Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Why does a company need 90,000 green badge contract workers. Why not give the people who might be laid off those jobs?

@vil I agree. There will be no loyalty or stability in the coming years. Nor will anyone 'retire' from Intel in the future. We are all CWs.

I'm amazed they can actually find 90k temp contract employees, shows the state of the current economy. "WINTER IS COMING" (John Snow voice)

The best sentence on this board today:

Contractor $$ comes out of capital expenditure typically, not the operating budget, and is usually not as impacted during company downsizing. Which is exactly why those laid off should pursue contract work. It's a much more stable way to make a living.

Green badges are cheaper. Intel pays peanuts for green badges.

This is such a sh--. Other big companies use their contract employees in a way that they don't have to harm their own employees. They let go the contracts first when they want to cut cost. Intel seems to be completely different in thinking.

Green badges are a fluid labor force. Can add/subtract at any time with limited impact or associated costs.

We're being outsourced from every angle.
