CVX Policy on Rehires

What is Chevron's general attitude toward rehiring someone (in the good times)? I left a year back before things got really bad in order to deal with some personal matters, and have only worked part-time since. Is there a written policy or is it up to the manager? I would wait to approach at least until oil is back in the 60s.

@HUXaJpo-1rcy, OOh, you poor little butthurt baby, You were cut from the tree because you are a worthless piece of deadwood and you have to make up fictional stories about an exciting new career that pays twice as much to make yourself feel better. That's OK. It's the typical delusion from separation process which occurs when useless employees have to face the truth that they are worthless. You can consider it your postpartum depression. It'll be OK dear. You hang in there. Come up with a better story next time, though. One that's believable when coming from a piece of deadwood - LOL!

You sound so bitter and hurt, 1xpj. Man up. I got laid off and have moved on. I moved on because I wasn't useless trash like you seem to think of yourself. No, was laid off for being one of the higher paid specialists in my group and my 50+ age. In this industry, that's not a big plus for people like me. I'm now working for a competitor as a contractor and making 10% more in pay. Change your attitude before it's too late.

I suggest that all of you asshurt losers simply quit and go get that job that is waiting for you since you are so competent, versatile, and qualified to work anywhere, in any industry , and can leave Pitiful Chevron which is like a burning building and an alter of political correctness unlike any other major corporation in the entire US.(To an idiot, of course who doesn't have a clue and led a sheltered career)

Or maybe - You are simply ungrateful idiots and cannot get a job anywhere else?

OR you are going to BLAME Chevron for your incompetence in some perverted manner, like - oh because of them I wasted all these years - YES A-HOLES - THEY REALLY TWISTED YOUR ARMS!!

Or - maybe - you are incompetent deadwood who have never worked anywhere else, don't have a clue, and are just little butthurt sore idiot cowards ranting behind a keyboard and could not find another job if your life depended on it because you are such useless idiots? That's probably it. Because I have worked at MANY MANY companies, and you pathetic losers have NO IDEA how sweet of a gig you have. Suck it up pathetic deadbeat losers. This may be your last easy ride. Hopefully it is and CVX can take out the rest of the trash. It's obvious that there is some garbage left to be cleaned up!

Spot on, acz. Love the witty quip "quarterly lack of earnings report". Pure Gold. Another good one for the Chevron Corp Layoff Website Hall of Fame.

This is a company that worships at the religious alter of political correctness, diversity and multiculturalism. It is run by countless meetings and committee consensus and is devoid of any true leadership or competency at the decision making upper levels. Look at the many screwed up projects. That is not an accident. Remember, JW was playing golf at Pebble Beach the same day that hundreds of people were being laid off, and doesn't have the guts to show up for the quarterly lack of earnings report. There are many better places to go in the oil industry.

Within 30 days you can be brought back with no loss of service.

After 6 months you can come back on the Bridges Program.

After 6 months you can return working as a contractor.

After 3 years you can be re-hired with HR Approval (review of past performance etc.)

The $100,000 question is why wouldn't you go back to Chevron if they offered you a job????

If you are gone for a certain period - 3 years i believe, it is considered a permanent break in service and your previous service time will not be bridged. If you are thinking about going back to that $hithole company you'd best do it before the permanent service break period.

I'm not 100% sure of the company policy. My understanding is a retiree can be rehired after 1 year as a part time employee with no more than 20 hours per week or as a full time contractor. After 3 years away, a retiree can be rehired full time.

The thirty dollar question is, why would you even think or want to go back to Chevron?!
