How much will these layoff affect Intel's reputation in recruiting circles and colleges?
Will it become difficult for them to attract the best talent?

I agree with some previous posters.
It's a good place to start.
Swimming a few years in this Snake-pit will get you toughen-up and ready for "softer" companies.
However, after too many years in Intel you start to believe in Intel's inward looking vision, which has nothing to do with reality.
I have hired for a while, first tier school desire to come here for the most part is nil. Now third tier we get lots of interest... Good to know that the future of intel is full of that from San Jose State and down type schools.
The Berkeley and MIT level have little interest I this company and rightly so
@qrn.... There are a lot of companies that will give this exposure. But I am not rating Intel against some other company for career begining. I am just saying ... In my experience it was Defenitly worth it and if I had to do it again .. I'll do the same all over again...
Saying that 'I don't like the new Intel' which is basically Qualcomm rejects from leadeship. BTW July 31 is my last day here. I accepted an offer from another compnay. I can confidently say that Intel management didn't value my experience during ACT process, but the new company was really interested in that experience and ready to pay premium to my burden of Intel hands. I am happy to add to to the 35% efficiency target given to my group
Intel's reputation is already widely known and not a very desirable place to work. You in manufacturing or TMG the reputation is terrible, you come as there is no other work and you need visa help.
If you are design, computer science, why would you come to intel. There are so many better prospects out there.
It ain't like they pay more than average, nor is the stock every going anywhere.
Maybe people come because they like the intel ding dong dick?

Intel is looking to expand in India to tap into the digital India project which is a multi billion dollar govt initiative. I read that AMD is also working on partnering with some govt agencies to develop hardware in India.
Intel should go all in on India. They could make them a semiconductor powerhouse to take on the likes of China.

Intel is definitely NOT the place to work for anyone coming from the outside world and who has any experience. The word is out on that.
The aborted Donald Trump fundraiser alone will be enough to make a lot of people think twice about working for Intel.

Intel is a good place to start your career and get to corporate mindset and product delivery and sign off quality experience. Academics won't provide this. A good talented engineer should start career at Intel jump the ship after 2 promotions*.
This is my take. But I am in a team where there are very technically experienced and smart people. That might not be the case for all....Intel experience after college is Defenitly a plus after some years when looking for 2nd job
