I just submitted an appeal. Is anyone else planning on appealing, or have appealed?

Appeal but move on. They can either decline or accept. If decline, you were already moving on so no biggie. If accept, then turn around and ask for the VSP (to get the ISP stigma removed), plus you were already moving on. Not sure why one would want to go back to that toxic environment just to be possibly let go later this year.

Appeal or considering an appeal = panic and rash decision. Move on period. Do you really want to work for a company who has lost it's way, can't leverage it's foundation of innovation, huge cash reserves and 10's or thousands of bright minds to put a crack in the mobile market???? take a deep breath, regroup, go for a hike or weekend trip with the family, friends and move on to chapter 2. Appeal will waste valuable time of doing something positive and productive. Not a difficult decision to make in my opinion. Intel isn't everything, it's a company that sells sh--. Period. A lot more cooler companies out there investing in their people and culture than Intel.

I thought about submitting an appeal, but at this point, Intel has shown its cards and--to switch analogies--they played some dirty pool this time around, so I've decided to leave the table. Do you really want to work for a company that tells you that you are doing just fine only to suddenly show you out the door based on criteria that was never explained to you nor would you have had a chance to rectify even if it had been.

Look kiddo. Its nothing personal. It's simple dollars and cents. It's not a charity it's a business. Be glad you were given an opportunity to work, build resume and move on.
How do you know the consolation is money instead of getting your job back? That sounds unlikely.
I am not sure about wining the appeal, but I am sure you will learn about the truth behind the lay-off and who is really on your side. It is far more likely you get more humiliation than justice.

Even if you win the appeal, the consolation is money, not getting your job back. Besides, why would you want the job back in the first place? If you feel wronged in the first place, why would you want to go back and get wronged again? Your appeal fixes nothing and Intel will lay off people again when the company gets to fat again.

@oj, two things in life you can't control: who your parents are and what country you were born in. Be careful you don't judge a person based on those things.
@ocw. EXACTLY. And this is the reason I really don't want my job back. I am, however, very certain that my appeal will land in Intel HR's hands. Without going into many details... it should make life for some managers very uncomfortable for a while. And rightfully so.
Even if you score a victory on appeal, you will not be welcome back at Intel. The environment will become hostile.
You have to understand it is not about fairness or justice. It is about how Intel can realize its overall agenda. The only chance you could win the appeal is to have a different judge other than your management and Intel HR.

I'm the OP, and all I want from the appeal is the chance to work at another group within Intel - that is, ISP => VSP. I definitely don't want my old job back...
I submitted an appeal. Per the employment attorney I consulted, the claim "has teeth" but at this point I am not sure I actually WANT my job back.
Similarly to @vrx, it just may be time to go.
And, really, I am not sure I want to work for an organization that would tolerate the incompetency in management ranks that is a common thread throughout my appeal docs.
So my question becomes: Can I rescind an appeal/
Unless you are Indian, else don't bother. They won't entertain it.
Also, this website has started to delete and ban any negative comments on Indian. The Indian really monopolize everything now, even freedom of speech!
I've enough ammunition to overturn my SL4 and ISP if I appeal. But i decided not to, since I figured taking package and leaving is the best. Even if I appeal and stay back, I'll have to put up with those moron managers and who will now be even more bitter and will be vying for my neck every chance they get. It'll be a matter of time, before I get chopped. Better tp spend my energy elesewhere. Anyone think the same way?
Appealing won't help your cause. Use the time and look for jobs outside Intel
