Color coding of employees for realignment??

So I happen to sit next to an executive and I overheard conversations concerning color coding of employees and percentage of job duties attributable to specific functions etc, specific employees names were being mentioned as if each employee was being "evaluated" and no this I don't think is the yearly stack ranking thing, sounded like a realignment our targeting of employees.....anyone have insight into anything concerning this or something like this??

The parent card post was 100% sarcasm

To the poster who posted the below, what do you mean? You do know that being a parent is not playing a card, right? It's not a game or pretend. You actually do have a kid you need to pick up at a certain time from school or they will call the police. Maybe you meant some kind of sarcasm that went over my head.

"Realignment sounds good right about now. Unless of course they realign me to a role with crazy hours that don't mesh with daycare. Oh wait....i guess I was playing the mom card there. I'm certainly not playing the "I'm a parent card" which means I need to work within daycare hours and family parameters."

The rumor about tech/reporting people moving to GTO has been swirling since shortly after the CHL and ML mergers. Prior to the creation of GTO. If senior leadership is finally able to execute that plan I'm surprised. It also means the LOB costs and time to implement the easiest change, think workflow or management reporting will take forever and be mired in red tape

I'm curious how they decide who goes when you're realigned to a new team and now combined with others in a similar skill set. You have a team of performing employees so now is it based on pay? Start cutting the ones who make more? I know some who have exact same role, same band, same title, paid hourly but have a 20k gap in salary. That is ridiculous!

Yes, there are major reorgs happening soon. They color coded based on the type of function each person performs. then they will completely reorg. ie. if you do tech on a non-tech team (ie a sales reporting team,) you are getting reorg'ed to a tech team. I think that is the way it will go down- someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

And if they don't need you in that dept bc they have a surplus, you are getting let go and someone else will pick up your tech-related duties.

We spent a ridiculous amount of time evaluating roles and responsibilities only to have it ignored by managers who really had no clue what we did. When members of the team were relieved of their jobs, the metrics turned red and they had to move people into those roles to do the work. That is what happens when idiot managers who have no clue what the team does are left to make the decisions. I actually went to HR about said manager and her lack of engagement and was promptly laid off 2 weeks later so needless to say there is no tolerance for a squeaky wheel. Good news is I enjoyed some time off, landed a better job and couldn't be happier. For those being laid off, hang in there. It may take some time but there are opportunities out there that don't come with all the headaches.
