Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Has the Chevron Layoffs site been blocked yet from being accessed from your work PC?

Chevron is notorious for filtering and blocking certain content on the Internet from being accessed while signed-on to the Chevron server. I retired from Chevron in 2015 when this site was starting to get lots of hits. I'd be surprised if Chevron hasn't blocked it yet.

Are you folks crazy?

Don't even think of accessing this or similar sites from your work computer or while connected to Chevron's wifi network with a personal or company device. If you must view this site during the day to vent get yourself a "burner" tablet and connect to a non-chevron wifi hotspot or preferably use a cellular based data provider. (More secure as your not transmitting your passwords over a shared wifi AP)

I can confirm that things have tightened up monitoring and information protection wise inside chevron. It's the worst kept secret in the world that the Cybersecurity team is hard at work assembling a NSA type database of user activities that can be leveraged as a trump card during situations where an employee's performance is called into question. Think of it as a dashboard of every place you go to and how long you spend there. You may think that you just log into a Google service, but there are constant calls back and forth all day as you connection is maintained and refreshed. When the sh*t hits the fan they'll accuse you of hitting Google all day long and you won't have a leg to stand on.

Now that you know, stop what you are doing from the company PC. It's not worth getting fired over accessing a website/s. Sorry to be a Debbie downer, but that's the cold, harsh reality I am seeing take shape from within the IT function.

Yes it is blocked at certain sites un north American. And Chevron is not notorious for blocking sites compared to other oil majors or other companies. The Web is practically wide open on chevron proxies. I could strem movies on Netflix if I wanted. It's idiotic how open their proxy is.

Good advise, 2ipd. No employee should be navigating this site for too long or often on a company laptop connected through the Chevron server. You internet trail is bring logged. But looking shouldn't be a problem like posting something while on company time. That surely won't work for you.

But nothing stops you from using your own smartphone to enjoy a little break and add a useful post to an interesting topic now and then. I was only interested in knowing if the Chevron content filter was blocking the site. Apparently it's not blocked yet.

No, this site hasn't been blocked yet. I'm writing this reply from my laptop in a touchdown room.

@HdvI3Ho-2loh, Could you please re-post that in English, and don't use all caps, unless you intend to emulate shouting, which is what that implies.

SO, DOES THIS MEAN THAT YOU WOULD HIRE TO PERFORM THE RESPONSIBILITIES YOU ASSIGN TO IT AND ALLOW THAT PERSON TO SAY CRAP ABOUT OUT BASED ON THEIR PERCEPTION OF REALITY ... REALLY?!!!!
