Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Legal Advice

This whole ESP process is shambles.

It is not about performance and business needs as it was initially announced, but about many good old reasons we all know.

Thinking of contacting some attorneys to seek advice if this was even legal and to prevent any future damaged lives of many employees.

Anyone who is concerned with the way things were handled pleas reply.

ESP was a joke...but it's not illegal. They can lay you off any way they want to. Sure they sold the esp as a fair process, But it wa s anything but. F---, get over it and move on.

Did you know my BU is laying off 3 engineers but their home BU is taking back trainees? Simple cost reduction.

How about the fact that certain expats were repatriated in January before the Esp but there were no openings in their country during the esp, how did they get the golden ticket home?

Here's a another, everyone (expat) below a certain PSG were left standing, but certain individuals managed to get PSG bumps in Feb despite being lower performers (I sat in their ranking sessions). Now that the dust has settled we can look back and see a couple 2s got bumps up to 23 which will keep them working but other 2+ 22s were left standing, guess it all depends who you golf with.

Am I upset? A little. Enough to recommend some to sue? LOL.

Chevron,.... an endless succession of bitch slaps, interrupted by the occasional bonus.

Suck it up. Move on.

If you demonstrate that you were given an expectation of promotion and not given it or if you were let go before your contract termination date on various occasions, if the roles you have historically applied for were given to blatantly less qualified people, if you were never chastised or communicated for poor performance then you may have a case...you would have to do some research. Who got the roles you applied for, your old employment contracts which demonstrate that you were moved or terminated before you're "three year assignment" has concluded.

Look up the term "At will". Skip the lawyer. Back to work.

Agreed with the others. Take the generous severance package and move on. Don't give it to lawyers. Lesson learned, no corporation is trustworthy and ethical - no matter how much they pretend to be.

@HeUNASb-rmm, Sniveling cowardice yes indeed, as you post rude comments anonymously like a spineless coward from the safety of your PC. You are correct, Chevron is "rife" with people like you.

My honest advise to the OP is to get past the hard feelings and downright disappointment. I understand your anger, but fighting Chevron on being laid off will not work in your favor. Now, if you have a clear and provable discrimination case, proceed with getting legal advise from a reputable firm. Otherwise, move on as quickly as possible to another job or endeavor.

Given the level of sniveling cowardice that is rife throughout Chevron, I'm not sure you would have much luck. They close ranks very well, shy away from accountability and have deep seated personal agendas against certain people. The best way to avoid falling victim to their 'Culture' and 'Chevron Way' is not to get mixed up with them to begin with. It just isn't worth any level of financial compensation.
