Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Shame

BOA is a terrible organization. The matter in which they have laid off and who they have laid off is incredibly disgusting!! I'm so sick and tired of reading posts about employees stating that they hope they get laid off and they are tired of working in fear! Try not having a job and being laid off and being in fear on how the hell you and your family are going to make it! Especially with insurance these days! I MUST stay on my insurance plans for health reasons for the next so many months and will have to use cobra to keep my plan once severance is over! $2,000.00 a month it will cost! How can I afford that with no job! Stop saying and wishing you would be laid off because there are people like myself that were laid off that and worked their assoff for this company and would do anything to have their job and benefits back! Deal with it, work and once you get laid off and most likely you will, then you will understand exactly where in coming from! I'm incredibly bitter! I worked so hard for the bank and got sh-- on In the end! I try to imagine who the hell reviewed my name and actually gave the go for my dismissal! Why? Did you review my reviews or my cheesy assperformance plan I created? Did you review anything? Hell no you didn't! You let me go for no good f---ing reason and kept all the slackers that hope they will be let go on! Why???????? So many people that don't give a sh-- could have been let go before me! Why?????????

Yikes! A little harsh! Haaa! Goodness! Look, get laid off, be shocked, hurt and worried then come on here and all you see over and over how current associates begging to get laid off! It gets disheartening.. That's all.. Maybe I should have scaled back my anger (that is completely understandable) and not used the word "shame".. Not sure if "f--- you" was warranted but if it made you feel better.. My rant did!!

Sometimes it comes down to the function you perform. We let go of 4 good people in the broader team I work in. The group had to reduce hc and expenses and their functions were deemed less critical. That might be your case as well.

They should have offered a voluntary package for those happy to take it..

Well said @HfSEms1-1zyf, everyone handles the stress differently and some would rather just get past the stress of not knowing and many have put in a number of years and are awaiting severance but suffering while waiting with the terrible conditions they face every day. Just as no one really knows your situation but you, the same holds true for your true understanding of what others are feeling and face. I was lucky, I got laid off and had a nice severance package and was fortunate enough to have lived well below my means for years and could afford to retire. I ended up finding a better job for a comparable salary and benefits and feel I am in a much better position at this point. I would recommend you work through the bitterness and get it out of your system before you start interviewing because nothing signals trouble to a prospective employer more than angry bitterness. Just as you came to this forum to vent about your anger, others have the right to do the same without you passing judgment on them. Good luck to you.

I know full well the panic of being between jobs and needing to rebound to take care of my family. Your angst with people who say they want to be laid off is misplaced. It doesn't mean they are different from you it just means you were picked first. I think everyone on this forum knows their time is marked. A day a month a year whatever. You just happened to be picked when the rest of us have not. Our time is coming. Shaming someone for being to that point of resignation in the 12 step program isn't right. Once someone gets to the point of acceptance in the inevitable well, so what if they say let's just get this horrible disgusting unfair event behind us. It is their prerogative. I doubt anyone wanted to be in this position your or anyone else. But here we are. Personally as difficult as it is to wake up every f---ing day and know I have to put on my game face just to play the game so I can support my family just one more day I do it. Yes I know it will end soon. Yes I expect I will get a package. Yes I prefer to have continued my career which has been marked with nothing but success after success with this bank, but f--- them and f--- you. We all are justified in our own ways of dealing with this bank of america bullshit and shame on you for trying to find fault in it.

I completely understand the hurt and pain of being laid off. It has taken me a few months to grieve and is still not easy considering there are no comparable jobs in my area. One thing is for sure, payback is a bitch for all the evil doers at BOA.

You're in a terrible predicament. I definitely understand, I empathize. But to you and others that have been laid off, life goes on and it gets better. I found a better job and better coworkers than I had and so will you. Put you anger and bitter feelings aside and focus on moving forward. As twisted as it is some find pleasure in seeing upset, angry and distraught, don't give them the satisfaction. Their day is coming!

Sucks being laid off, but is awesome getting a new job with benefits. Hang in there. I was bitter too, but what can you do.. You see all the slackers and "FAVORITES" that didn't get the axe and wonder WTF? I capitalized favorites because there is always those that brown nose, they know who they are. Dinner and lunch with the boss much?

I busted my assworking for the Bank and got laid off, and also busted my assgetting a new job, so it all works out in the end, keep busting your ass

Yep, the review process is deadly! Either way you get screwed and if your manager is an a$shole then you have real problems as it seems that that is the encouraged corporate behavior these days. I can't decide what is worse - dealing with a "problem child complexed" manager or being laid-off with no job lined up which really sucks. But I'm starting to realize that it's really the same situation - either way it's something that I have to do something about and so it's really just a timing issue.
