In fact, if $250k is used as overhead cost per engineer per year (conservative number in North America these days), this market share loss could be worth more than 3k jobs. This is without counting further likely market share loss from Iphone business.

This will likely cost Q 100m units at $20 per chip. Qualcomm probably get 50% gross margin. So $1bn In operating profit. That's about 3000 workers considering last year's 4500 layoff saved ghee company $1.4bn per annum.
