Looks like more trouble in San Diego Chip Industry

A credible rumor says that avgo didn't win the NFC deal with a certain fruit company.

That group is most likely going to get Hock-t-sized by it's ruthless CEO.

All is not well in the chip industry...Unless you're NXP, Nvidia, ARM, or a Chinese low cost player.

Many vendors are fighting for a percentage share on Apple products. Avgo has other components which are still used by Apple. I don't think NFC loss is going to make any impact ...

-eoq. You sir, are a moron. As a W2 worker-bee, you want other chip companies around because you want employer competition so they can push up your compensation package. Intel is going to pull out of San Diego, Broadcom is going to pull out... What do you think that's going to do to your compensation in the mid to long term? YYou think there's a large market for modem engineers, system test, DSP, etc? Fortunately, I'm in the application software space so my skills are in demand regardless. But someone, I don't think those RF guys or those modem engineers have the same flexiblity. You wonder why some of you guys are getting retention bonuses why some of you are not? It's simple, some of you guys could walk across to any other software shop. Some of you guys can't, because no one else needs your skills.
