Oh to be young and naive again. You are also going to get a years salary as a retention bonus.

Pure Gold, @2agz. That "Circle of Life" analogy takes your post into the Chevron Corp Layoff website Hall of Fame.
The PDC is just to clean up the mess from the last ROM and maybe promote a few golden boys and girls. The cuts will come from the ROM after the PDC. This of course will require the next PDC to clean up that mess and so goes the circle of life. Its all from the Lion King. Scar works for BCG.
Alm- right on target.

@1acl, you're right in that a PDC is not supposed to be for layoffs, but for Chevron during this downturn period, it will be used to circumvent EEOC laws in many cases and benefit friends and family to keeping their jobs at Chevron. In this PDC, there will too few jobs available compared to the numbers to be laid off. The PDC will masquerade the the unfair and discriminatory selection process now in place at Chevron. Bottom line is that middle aged white males and the 55+ age group will not get jobs in the PDC, no matter how good they are.
@Hz6EdOd-urs - A PDC is not for layoffs. if Chevron lays of more folks, which they will, they will do another ROM/ESP.
Employees have to post for a PDC opening after checking with their manager, and if someone does not post, they do NOT loose their job. Obviously, you not know how a PDC works.
Word is that there are 3 to 4 people per job for PDC. It will be worse than the ESP. And probably no packages as it isn't an organized layoff
Diwnstream not allowed to participate?
You stay in your old job ONLY IF your job isn't eliminated. Remember, the name of this game is to cut jobs. There will be fewer to go around.
There won't be because if you don't get a new job then you stay on ur old one. That's PDC for you.
It's what's to be done that matters, not what is called.
Why fixate on ROM or PDC?
As long as there are fewer positions than employees, someone's got to go.
Where does the remaining 2000 come from?
The additional 1,000 layoffs will mostly come from divestments.
How is there no plans for more ROMs when the CEO announced an additional 1000 layoffs to make 8000 total from 2014 headcount. Chevron has not met the numbers yet from the previous layoffs. More cuts will happen but the question is where. Hmmmm....
Shut up
So no more ROM's. Yeah
