Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

So it happened

FM MVE, no VSP, got 1:1 request from my manager this morning, end date June 30th. Not entirely unexpected thanks to some of the helpful posts I saw here, but still a bit of a surprise. Good luck to all that are left and whoever is in the same boat, time to sail to greener pastures!

What groups within MVE got affected?

Got mine today too. June 30 term date. It is involuntary, but not considered performance based. Due to "site closures and consolidation." Documents specifically say I am rehire eligible immediately. If you rehire within a year you give some of the variable sep pay back.

I'm glad... looking forward to trying some new things for a while and I think the environment will be challenging for a long time.

thanks to some of the helpful posts I saw here

Thanks for this - I've been on this site about three months now and I've seen many folks bashing the board as 'not useful' and 'negative' - I am glad at least one more person sees things in positive light

@mya - Confirmed reports from MVE in FM,OR. SC likely affected too. Not sure about international sites. Haven't heard about other PEG groups, but it would seem Arch and DTS/DA are next on the chopping block as they were in similar "efficiency" bucket as the merged SVE/MDO (MVE). Maybe they will be notified in the next couple of weeks? Also not sure about selection algorithm, hv heard from several mgrs that VPs/mgr input was taken into account this time, but no details.

Where are these cuts occurring (SC, OR, FM)? Are these site related?

OP again, probably will be my last post; you're welcome @HzD5kn6-1eiy, from what I understand, yes, if you find a "comparable" job internally and have this ISP, you'll need to notify HR ASAP so you won't have to take the package. If it's a diff grade and/or is drastically different (Intel decides), you still get a separation package. I'm not sure if these conditions are unique to my case, but I've read the terms several times over now, the rehire policy is pretty clear in that it's allowed with this package.

Some interesting discussion here, thanks all.

Who is gm vp group leader in mve ?

ISP=GTFO immediately and don't come back.

VSP=GTFO, with a shiny bow on the package.

Same overall end result. You're damaged goods in the eyes of mighty murthy and the Krustsandwich

Recent HR criteria for 2nd wave selection. So here is how it goes. Each are VP's, MVE, Arch, DA/DTS have gotten together with tops down targets of cuts, 20%, 30% whatever. They then slice and dice the area of people say 2000 into sub groups of 100 by site or whatever grouping then want. Then HR has magic performance took that only the lawyers have the algorithm for, which the rank each group. Then the VPs get to select what % of the cut to apply to each group to get that area to the overall tops down target.

That's how you got on the list.

Next round of selection needs to be submitted by 6/11, for notification the last week of June.

Good luck

Read you separation agreement document. All of the ISP docs I've seen, both retirement and non-retirement, had no rehire provisions. If you can be rehired then I guess you a lucky.

Sorry to hear that. OP: this round of cuts were decided by HR, without FLM's inputs?

Thanks OP . So you are still eligible to look for jobs internally until June 30th ? I have a VSP which I am not taking and my mgr despite being told multiple times is still insisting I do . I have been looking for jobs internally and hv some promising leads so hoping even if I get ISPed by the current group , I hv a small window to find another job internally .

OP again, @HzD5kn6-1nyy is correct, that seems to be it in a nutshell.

I was told the package is the same (financially) as the VSP currently being offered and that seems to be true. The terms state that you can take the VSP instead if it's currently offered to you till June 2nd, but if you do not, this package becomes the only option.

You have to return the variable separation pay if you're rehired within 12 months. You're free to look for another job at Intel as long as you qualify within "Rehire Eligibility Guidelines" before (and after) your termination date.

Managers were instructed to inform affected employees as soon as possible, but it's possible not all have yet...

This round of ISP, are you given an option to look for a job within Intel before June 30th ? I heard something abt no redeployment pool but people can try to find another job within 30 days .

I do not think this ISP == no rehire

Instead....people receiving this ISP can be rehired immediately as other people are mentioning here.

ISP == no rehire

Was anyone told what the criteria was? I am also with MVE but not sure if my site was affected.

So if I understand this, it is involuntary separation but not performance related so you could in theory come back to work here, and also eligible for unemployment?

OP here, sorry, no personal info (or parts of it), I don't care if you choose to believe or not.

MVE=Manufacturing Validation Engineering

Regarding selection process, my manager did not know the details, but mentioned that there's likely a formula for overall PEG or one perhaps specific to MVE.

Also, ACT Separation Package terms seem to allow immediate rehire if that's of interest.
