The funny thing is that most people who were let go during the last cycle are not the liwest performing 10%.

Usually the lowest performing 10% people know how to hide it pretty well and are in good terms with their managers, as they din't have any other choice.

I believe most of the ISPed people were at the 50% percentile, being solid contributors who didn't play the political game. The VSP people were at the 75% percentile and above, who believe they will find another job easily and don't believ in Intel's future.

As a result, Intel now stays with the lower performing percentiles and the highest performing percentiles, under the same management.

Looks like a 2nd round of ISPs will come fast as it will be easier to observe the lowest performing people cannot cope with real work when the people who actually worked are gone.

@1zdz - SMG didn't make their numbers? No surprise there! One of the more bloated groups at Intel.

Why is it this hard to meet the cut targets?

@1qrh I've seen a small number of people, usually efficiency cuts, be allowed to use their last month as a mini redeployment. If you find a position quickly then you can stay.

Because redeployment would make sense by allowing people to fill critical gaps left by other actions and allow a pass down to whoever is left. No we need to shoot ourselves in the foot once again.

It has been clearly stated at the ACT Hub that ACT will not use redeployment. In all cases positions are eliminated and it is up to the individual to find a new one.

Why hardware teams?

I've heard rumors that the hardware teams will get hit pretty hard. They are at phase 3 now and are targeting efficiency. These ISPs I heard would be different from the first round. They are at the department level. I am not sure if those impacted would be eligible for rehire. If that were the case, why they wouldn't do redeployment is a question. There are still groups that are low on headcount.

I've heard as such. Can you elaborate on which groups?

Which groups did not make their numbers ?

Even groups that made their numbers will lose more people in the upcoming Efficiency target; you can expect adjustment of manager:worker ratio and project cancellations.
