There are no certain plans right now, August or September after the BU business plan cycle is when we'll hear whether there will be any changes

I totally agree with 1jsi. The entire company culture needs a major change. Right now, it is like the saying that you must go along to get along. If you can't figure that out, then just think about it.

Sorry to disappoint you folks but I don't see anything will change unless there is a management change from the top and they really clean house. Until then the "friends and family" plan will continue. In the mean time some good workers will get canned as they spend more time working than networking and others will leave for greener pastures.

Chevron, all across the board, has placed discipline and accountability on the back burner for so long that trying to find order in the chaos will be an uphill battle. Their best chance to do that is now, using the layoffs to clean house and keep the best. It's a wasted opportunity that I've seen so far with too many of the wrong people remaining and plenty of our better employees having been sent packing. Right the ship, Chevron, or go down sinking.

Etc should be only the smes that we need but not enough to have in each by and/or the same engineers we have in a by used as excess capacity to keep bu leaner.

This is NOT how etc is set up now

I agree Etc should be outsourced. Payne says we need to do more engineering and become more of a engineering company versus the project management company that we currently are. Perhaps the best way to do that is to keep all the process people and internal paper pushers required to maintain decentralization and outsource all of the actual technical and teaching positions. Honestly who needs smes anyways, we need to focus on attrition of drilling and completion project managers.

A prime example is BU departments having to get ETC approval on workscope or well design. What is the need of BU departments then? If the BU groups are deadwood, shut them down and do all from ETC. OR shut down ETC.

HES grp ETC needs a clearout!

CVX could very easily outsource the majority of ETC positions and save a sh--load of high dollar resident costs.

Management is constantly meeting to discuss poor workload projections. Etc business model doesn't really work in downtimes. They are going to be forced to change at some point. I am expecting a pdc with a leaner org, so kind of like a smaller Rom as compared to last year but called by a different name.
