Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Severance thru PDC?

Does anyone know if there is a severance package if left standing during a "normal" PDC? Worried about this fall's PDC. There will be way more people than jobs. PRC consulting services is screwed.

The PDC posts some jobs just to turn around and take them away. What's all that about? Seems to me it's backside politics at its best. Making room for someone special by giving them a temporary job before being placed elsewhere, all at a the expense of other employees whose job position was eliminated. The Chevron Way at it's best.

Beware, it's a stacked deck, folks. The PDC is most definitely rigged. It's so obvious to many who have gone through one or two of these already.

Agree with other posters on the view that PDC is mostly rigged. I have landed jobs through several PDCs over my Chevron career but whenever I have tried to get one of the nicer jobs I was told (either by job owners, PDC reps, or other contacts) that there are "insiders" or "preferred candidates" for the job, so it will be hard to be successful. Also, even if you are the best qualified candidate they will select someone else and will reason that it fits better with the other candidate's CDP- bullshit! So this is all a game to show that "we are very fair" and "equal opportunity employer" but it is not exactly like that. In good times, all these things don't matter but in bad times (like now) it is a matter of survival and becomes important.

I totally agreed with @I32UfsX-hhs: My office is next door to one of the PDC sponsor. In the past, I had seen and heard things that you can't believe. I can hear him talk loudly over the phone. Couple of weeks before the PDC he was reassuring people on the other line that they will get the job. I had been working as an expat to work in Thailand and PNZ and IBU. Some of the expats were not fit to the job but get the job thru good connection with the sponsor strong push. A women who was a production engineer came in to the BU and become the shipping manager. (off topic --->>) A guy who do not understand the local culture took strong arm action to get his message across wanted the local team to do it his way. I knew another Asian American who has the cultural background, years of engineering experience, and was well qualified. However, he was not selected for the job. Chevron do not take language and culture experience into consideration as competency in the job selection. People are dreaming if they think the PDC process is truly run in transparency.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah already realize that the PDC is rigged. I never quite fit in anyway, I am far too cynical for this.

How can they call it a PDC if there are more people then jobs? This is a ROM disguised as a PDC.

You got that right, OP... there will be way more people than jobs.

Good luck in the PDC. You should know it's a rigged system. The Democrats have rules to allow the counting of super delegates in their primary races to circumvent power over the will of the popular vote. Chevron uses the PDC to circumvent basic rules established by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as its own employment policies. Don't count on getting a job through the PDC if you're not well connected. Most every posted job has a candidate's name already selected. The posting process is only the cover Chevron uses to complete the illusion of fairness.

If you are left standing you will get a package.
