Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

More changes to come???

I work in the south region. My store is doing awful, sales decreasing daily. Leadership keeps saying it'll get better in the fall. There are people, tms to ASTL, that are leaving my store lately. That leds me to think people are loosing faith in this company, they know something others don't. Can anyone tell me if there are more cuts, merges, etc. coming soon???

I work in the south region. Stepped down from ATL to go back to school but still work part time. They told us if our store didn't meet a certain sales number a week (we're not) that they would combine departments. It's so dead on the weekends compared to when WF had everyone fooled.

Other stores in the South do not have upcoming store meetings scheduled, so it is highly unlikely that further layoffs will be discussed at your store meeting alone.

It is my understanding that the South made the most sweeping changes last fall and if there are to be any more layoffs in the near future they will not affect very many positions, and very unlikely at the store level.

I understand that at our store meeting in a couple of weeks, new layoffs are going to be discussed. Our TL's are stepping down, team members hours are cut so dramatically that many are talking about taking second jobs to make ends meet.

Now there are definitely rumors, at least in my region (MA). Stores had TL meetings offsite rather than the normal in-store meetings. Something is definitely happening.

Rumors that we are definitely going the way of combi- teams. Don't know when, but it's coming. Get out now. There is no severance either from what someone said in a previous posting.

Taking a pay cut is worth it in the end. The constant daily stress of wondering if you are going to continue to keep a (miserable) job is NOT worth it and the stress of it WILL eventually show up in deterioration of your health. Whole Foods may be the Healthiest Grocery Store according to Corporate rhetoric, but it is by far NOT the healthiest employer, Act now, go back to school part time if you need to increase your earnings. Don't go down with the ship.

The only details I've heard for sure is more labor cuts, but I don't think they're supposed to talk about anything yet

NE here still pulling in good numbers but stagnant , best bet to transfer to this region since this is where the money is made . At least job security for most part we did the least amount of changes due to how delivery financially . - current Astl

SW here... Our TLs are all looking really stressed, attending mysterious meetings and alluding to "big changes" coming soon that they're not happy about. Practically every day they send tms home 10 minutes into their shift because they can't afford to pay us. Our store is also having an all-store meeting in a few weeks... Our last all store meeting was last year before the layoffs. Comping -25 to -30% across the board. Not feeling the mojo/job security in the SW.

These 'leaders' are telling you things will get better in the fall, because they're hoping to get laid off and get some of that sweet severance. So things will hopefully be great for them!

I've been looking for something else but taking a huge pay cut is a big pill to swallow. Especially when you have a family to support. But I am not giving up and I won't settle. I just don't want me to caught in the fire again like last September.

I3ZLZ9-zyr We might work in the same store by the way you're describing it.

I'm in the same region, and my store is the same way. The foot traffic has decreased tremendously. Even on Sunday's, it's not as busy as it used to be... Customers are complaining left and right about our store...

It's inevitable. The Titanic is sinking. Make your exit plans now.
