How are pregnant women treated at your store?

I've witnessed some not so good handling of women in late term pregnancy at my store.i was wondering how this is handled in other regions or stores? It seems that my leadership from stl..pbs..on down to yes man team leader missed the supreme court decision making pregnancy a "partial disability"

Oh, and PS, gotta love that my insurance deductible is so high that the cost of having a freaking baby still wasn't enough to reach my deductible.

I don't want to give too many details and give myself away, but when I was pregnant they made me move depts to a less physically demanding job, then immediately forced me to go on medical leave. It took me weeks to fight it and I ended up begging my dr to sign a release saying I could lift 50 lbs and secretly promising i wouldn't actually do it. My fellow tms were sympathetic and did my heavy lifting for me on the down low. So I ended up working until I actually went into labor, with the implication that if I sat down, took extra breaks, or gave the impression that I couldn't keep up with physical demands, i would be forced to go on early leave again.

Meanwhile, the weeks I spent fighting my forced early leave meant I only got barely a few weeks of FMLA once my baby was born. The tmsl/PBS told me that if I took extra time beyond that, I would lose my pay rate and service hours (which are significant). This is extra infuriating because I see people get approved for leaves of absence so they can go backpack across Europe for 2 months and stuff like that.

So yeah, long story short, WFM is not friendly to pregnant women or working moms.

Maternity leave!!!! What is that??? They make new tm resign rather than give them adequate fmla or maternity leave time.and i saw a cashier given a stool once by her tl (who was new from a different region) and as soon as a astl saw the stool, they said " no special treatment"....good job wholefoods

Ive seen them get fired under the mysterious "job performance" cloud...dont sugar coat.one girl raised such a stink that regional called her a few weeks later and gave her a job at another location.immediately,no questions asked..

I have seen no disparity in "treatment," all have been treated with respect and the rightful accommodations have been granted. If I could give any advice it would be to have a dialogue/discussion about anything that concerns you as soon as it arises, people will listen.

It shouldnt vary from region to region and like someone has said the surpreme court ruled this a partial disability where we are to make reasonable accommodations..i dont think a pt 20 new hire can really afford to be sent on a forced maternity leave before she is ready?? Once again is this mismanagmeny and conscious capitalism in action??maybe we can take some of the whole kids fund drive money to actually pay maternity leave??

TMS policy is different region by region. Some allow pregnant cashiers to sit at the check stand. Some refuse and put the pregnant cashier on maternity leave when they no longer can stand a full shift.

We had a customer complain about how they were making a cashier stand with a big belly and swollen ankles..she said she would no longer shop here and wanted to call corporate on our stl

Never seen set schedules, cashiers made to stand long hours without a stool to use at times, not given enough bathroom breaks when baby kicks.also ive seen pbs/stl railroad the women into resigning or coming up with vague "job performance issues" to get them out of the door.i think stl worried more about workmans comp issues than team member treatment with what the supreme court called a partial disability

Not well. Leadership will say " don't lift this and take your breaks" but will ultimately look the other way and expect the same amount of lifting and hours from you. Who else is going to do the work? The stl group NEVER steps in to help with the real work. Sad to say the company cares about the dollar bill alone.
