Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

If you still care at this point then you're doing it wrong.

"So and so product is going to fail" "So and so crap is ruining Intel"

Tell me, unless you're a fanboy at this point then why the HECK should you care?

"The company" obviously has never really cared about you, isn't caring about you, and will never care about you. Corporations aren't people- They are incapable of actually caring. Those in charge can keep up some appearances if they feel like it and think they could afford to. Otherwise nada.

If you're not there anymore, quit trolling. If you're still there, then quit the pointless self-flagellation because that's what it is. You're most probably addicted to outrage, addicted to the mental drama.

STOP.

If you're still going to be there, then clock in, do the sh-- you're assigned, clock the feck out, and get your paycheck. Nothing else matters. It's nice to live under some illusory dream that it somehow does matter that you care, but now as you can plainly see it doesn't.

If you really wanna care, care that you still do the job if only not to be the bottleneck that keeps everyone else around you from getting paid, and they'd do the same for you hopefully; if not then too fscking bad- The next best / least worst thing to hope for is that those idiots get the heave-ho at least the same time you do if not earlier. If you really want to work for anything, then work for your coworkers and not "the company". If you hate your coworkers then WORK FOR YOURSELF and your family.

Again, if you still give 2 chits about "the company" then YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

Upset to get laid off? Is that most people think? Actually, I am SOOOO happy that I am no longer work for Intel, the hell hole place. Why leave for nothing, when you can get double paid by moving to another company.

@1aif and @1psy The thing is, people are thinking, caring, and worrying about the wrong set of things.

People are supposed to care about people, not corporations.

Worrying about anything doesn't solve any problems and wouldn't earn anyone a darn paycheck. Like I've said- Clock in, clock out, get paid. Other crap are a waste of energy and bandwidth.

Upset? Well people can feel whatever they feel like feeling but sooner or later they'd have to move on and think about the next paycheck. Forget about fair. Stop even dreaming about it. Like the Game of Thrones quote, "If you're looking for justice, you've come to the wrong place"

OP, I see that you are very well paid from INTEL management to do excellent false/delusional propaganda. You ARE HR PR, this is clear to me now. You are trying to divert damage from outside. Your attempts are complete futile and in vain.

I'll give you the very last advise, for INTEL prosperity and for your own mental sake/health:

[1] Mind your own business, and do NOT advise us all what we should do. This is on our own peril. We are grown people. I understand that we are badly hurting INTEL... But it is (after all) what INTEL asked for, correct?

[2] Please, please... Mind INTEL business ONLY, and try to correct idiotic, paranoid, and complete delusional INTEL HR and INTEL management behavior. With the extras to be 1000% eliminated: lies, and fabricated evidences.

Do you copy that? You are involving yourself in something you have NO control over (it is anyway over your head)... So, please, please, concentrate... Try to get out your own paranoia, hysteria, and try to be proactive, positive, where/when you can be? OK?

You gotta to protect/be positive to/toward hard working people who stayed in INTEL, and continue to contribute. This should be your TRUE (PRIMAL/primary) mission. Forget your monkey's idiotic attempts... They do not make any sense.

Good luck to you, dude... My last words to you. You'll desperately need it (in order INTEL to NOT to be decimated by ARM and other competitors! :-)

@tdm Yes the management completely kicked own goal on this one but let's put this in perspective:

30% of Intel workers got the boot in 1974.

Now again, I advocate apathy towards "the company" instead of love or hate simply because I've seen people on this board just kill themselves with this feeling feeling feeling stuff for a whole two darn months. For the sake of their mental health people should stop feeling and start doing whatever the heck it is they're gonna do. Enough is enough is fscking enough. slap WAKE UP this is for your own good

As for the "revenge freaks" (hopefully not going to involve actual physical violence on their part apart from their continued mental violence on pretty no one but themselves with the brewing anger), they should stop too because they are off the deep end of the pool. They should look at where the heck they are and come back already. No, you'll never going to get your "I'm gonna get them" moment because NEWSFLASH you can't to sh-t to these people and you know it. Channel your anger and the resultant utterly irrational thoughts elsewhere, for your own good!

@fmx Well, agreed there but I would like to note that "challenging fulfilling and engaging" when it comes to a job expectation, in fact ANY job expectation, is relatively new invention (https://www.brainpickings.org/2013/04/23/how-to-find-fulfilling-work-roman-krznaric/) Think of the times when people have those real hard core factory jobs during the Industrial Revolution or even the people working in the steel mills; do the workers then seriously gonna expect "challenging fulfilling and engaging"? At the very end, there is the DIGNITY of simply earning your keep, and one shouldn't derive he or her own darn value from a stupid corporation because that's the wrong way to go about it- You are winning your bread legit, and that's the basis of your dignity... Everything else is just salad dressing. My parents didn't have "challenging fulfilling and engaging" work but they had simple dignity just from the fact that they earned their keep and brought me up with it. If there is the fuzzy feeling then great! But remember who or what the feeling's for! (e.g. NOT the company, NOT the abstract entity)

Because you love your spouse, or your work doesn't mean there are no ups and down. The challenge for those that conquer their obstacles is they power thru the downs and realize that is all part of the adventure of life. Not everything is good even in the best job/relationship.

It is indeed sad to see whether you are the most entry level technician or a higher up that you don't find enjoyment, challenge and turn that into love for the job.

Problem with much of the world these days, be it work, school, relationship. At least with school, and relationship to often those that are weak and of poor attitude just quit and walk away from school, major or relationship. So easy to do, them quitters, and they wonder why they never find love or success.

Now this Intel.. they are a pretty low bunch this BK and his gang. Where were the days of Andy where he had a vision, did a pay cut and make everyone work 110% before he'd just kick people to the curb. Dang intel is on track to make billions this year and BK still decided to do some of the most insensitive VSP by just kicking people to the door after their 1:1 with manage and HR. THis says a lot about this BK slime. After he made all that teary eyed comment on the BUM he don't give a F*uck. Bob or Andy were too classy to every do such a thing.

It is fate that what goes around will come around and when you treat people like %hit the way management has here, it is coming around. The way it is going to be sadly is that this company is dying and will sink. So beyond BK beyond a story that will be studied at Harvard Business Review of a screw-up sadly many an unhappy Intel will go down with him...

Word of advice, get out, and find a job you love and will excel, that last two are a virtuous cycle

If nothing else, discussion on this board has helped me realize what kind of culture to look for and what not to look for in my next employer.

Going to work everyday doesn't need to be fun, but it should be challenging, engaging and on some level fulfilling. Think of those characteristics, or the cost of working in a place pull of as*holes, backstabbers, politics and pointlessness, as part of the overall compensation package.

I'd take a few bucks less to work in a place that's enjoyable to one where I'm told to do stupid, pointless things, in constant (and arbitrary) risk of being kicked to the curb and otherwise not going to be valued because I don't kiss my manager's incompetent as*.

@itj "Defending"? Are you seriously right in the head? Where in the world did you read any "defending" of anyone or anything in what I wrote? Time for you to go back to school for reading comprehension.

I don't know what's your first/second/3rd/4th language but in English, "I don't care" and "I can't do sh-t about it" doesn't mean "I approve".

Hey if you think you're gonna "get back" at someone or something by "not forgetting" and driving the whaaaaambulance a million miles then you are delusional. What are ya gonna do to "punish" them? Keep crying? Get a grip. You oughtta take a stock of your own abilities, namely none when it comes to "take it to the big man". If you could actually do anything then you would have done it by now.

"Treat them"? Oh come now. You're giving yourself way too much credit. Again, what exactly could you do to them? All you're doing here is kicking yourself and kicking yourself some more. You have no clue how crazy you sound. Go read what you just wrote. Where are the concrete actions? It's a whole lot of fist shaking and no more. "No peace"? Again, what exactly? You gonna go in there and break some glass? Wring some necks? Absolutely laughable. If you have any pragmatic bone left in your body you would know that I'm absolutely right.

OP (HR defender, defending INTEL HR and INTEL management - nothing wrong about it), here again @hif... The bottom line, INTEL management lied heavily to me for years (at least to me, I have no idea how others perceived HR and management lies).

I am NOT going to allow them to go away with these lies, since they gained lot of monies and advantages out of cheating to their own employees. So, some (implicit) retaliation is necessary. It will hurt them as well, so they remember: NEVER EVER lie to working bees, it might be very painful to them/liars as well!

PEACE is NOT an option here (absolute peace per say), and let it go away. Not telling that I hate HR and management, not at all, but I have treatment for them as appropriate. Not pursuing them, why to hate and to carry them on?

I NEVER EVER get anybody to get with lies (translate = I remember forever). And these people are NEVER going to mess with me, if they'll come my way (and in The Past some liars came my way :-)) ), I'll gladly mess with them. Since I know what they are? OK?

LIE is not the way how corporate management makes the fortune. My opinion. Some fight back must be done. For sobriety sake.

Understood? Thank you for that. So, again, my message: do NOT hate anyone, but do NOT forget lies. Never!

Work must suck for some of the previous poster, pitty you know wonder you slog and get minimum satisfaction and likely just enough to buy a few beers and wine to drink away your sorrow.

I do mine work with passion, do it the best, think about it a lot. Well intel F*ucked me, that is okay, I got alternatives and will get to do something I love again. Why is that, it was because when you do something with passion/love generally you end up doing it well, and become more than just average... psst that is valuable in most walks whether you are job blow technician doing PMs or a VP... sadly most VPs here are just drinking from the kool aid, as you simply can't be a wild goose and lead here anymore..

Oh where was the old Intel of the 90's, The ship is going down, don't just do it for the paycheck, get the F*uck out of the company and find a company where you can love your job, after all you do more of that then time with family, leisure or sleeping, terrible to not love it, LOL

@znc I want to add that the school parallel is invalid because school sure the heck don't pay us for the privilege of doing school work. Compulsory education is by default done with the "gift" of education. Same couldn't be said of work- We get paid because we done something in exchange for the pay.

If I'm just a cog, just a piece of collateral, and not some school kid, then why the heck should I give two chits about the institution?

@znc Well whoop-dee-doo "Do it with love" ...of what? "The company"? If it's out of your own pride then IT'S NOT FOR "THE COMPANY."

Between making yourself depressed over something you can't do crap about, and doing something you can, which would be taking home the pay and limiting the self-inflicted mental damage, who is the wiser here?

@ebd Again how the heck do all of this caring helps things when you don't have the power? You're just chasing your own tail by hanging all this "oh noes things are going to the sh-tters" angst on your own fool head. I've backed up my argument with my reasoning, what's yours if you even have any? At the end of the day, what exactly are you taking home with you?

Your kid comes home and you ask how was school? " I don't care, I just do what they tell me and hope to pass and make the next grade" Duh you got a future Tier 1 acceptance, or a future PCC partimer flipping burgers, LOL.

It was asked of many soldiers who fight didn't matter which side why the fought, in the end it was less about for country and/or idealogy, and more for their buddies or immediate boss love. Of course some fought because of fear from the upper command ( read our management ), we all know how motivating that was.

No many of us worked for love of our peers and doing great things togather. No question the direction and the strategy of the company since the late 90's has been going from bad to worse, and couldn't be more near the bottom than it is now.

If you don't work with love, expect it to be garbage.. I can see why many feel that way.

I worked for the love of the work, for the love of my colleagues and to do the right thing and joy of solving problems. After two decades and a single L4 they kicked me to the curb with 5' to collect things of my computer and then a box to pack 22years of memories in my cube. You are right the company don't give a F*uck about you, nor does BK or most of management, but don't be like them do your job with love, w/o that there is nothing!

@pev On the grand scheme of things "coupla mil" is chump change next to the "coupla BIL" they've got stocked up somewhere. But since you're out, you should be caring about "the company" even less- negative on the care scale if that's even possible.

Caring is not going to fix anything because you don't have the power.

Oh, yes, I do. I quit on more/less my terms, and hurt INTEL badly. They already lost couple of $$ Mio USD. They loose more. It is Win - Loose situation. Win for me, since (also) my health started to degrade. My bad assFLM has > $300K gross USD salary, and this guy does not know anything, but internal INTEL organization, and he is well connected/well corrupted.

Though, I do agree with Tyrion and you: Tyrion Lannister: "If you want justice, you've come to the wrong place!"

OP, the real problem here is that company actually cares about these butt-holes FLMs and higher. These guys are getting high perks for their Ignorance and Arrogance.

I had the female manager who says to me: listen, you do not care about me, WTF, and I am going to fight you and put you down. But, the same relations with the customer she qualified like this: hey, he is walking over ya, this is perfectly correct! He is a customer.

I agree with the OP. Yes, it's nice to want to care, and you should care, if the company cared about you. But the current leadership clearly doesn't value the employees. Do your job, but don't labor under the delusion that the company cares about your work or has any loyalty to you.

Sadly, this is what will ultimately make Intel obsolete. Because of the way employees have been treated, they will stop working harder for Intel, because what's the point?
