Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Right now, in my group it feels like a 'dog eats dog' scenario - everyone is anxious and people are dancing around their managers in hope they will get a preferential treatment once decisions are made. It's sad to see this happening, it was a fairly tightly knit group of people.

All (but one) managers are from a certain region in a foreign country and people are already speculating that they will be protecting only people that come from the same region. This creates tension and a HUGE rift right now.

Indians are the worst regarding nepotism followed closely by Muslims (mostly Pakistani). I've seen very little nepotism on the part of any other ethic groups or religion.

I can't deny the coterie of Yes Men all around. Processes are created to 'preserve' a given Org's budget and, in turn, relevance. Minimal accomplishments of Top folks are highlighted and rewarded, whereas the ground reality of little to no benefits from these are totally ignored. There's a lots of doing and undoing, simply because a lack of strategy. Promotions, raises, rewards are a thing of past ..... you are simply expected to do more and more, and not ever ask about it. Promo process is totally unethical. Its a shameful state of affairs.

Indian Mafia took over Cisco leading to Cisco's downfall. There are teams in Cisco with 100% Indian nationality from top - SVP to bottom - entry level engineers. Some of those folks at Director, VP level dont even have dressing sense or presentation skills. Nepotism at best. Good Luck Tech Industry in the US. H1B visa program has really worked bringing "best and brightest" to the US to drive innovation out of the US to Europe and China with support from Indian tech labor. All at the expense of the US. DJ Trump is right after all?

It is so sad how Cisco changed. It used to be a great company; but then it became a lay-off machine; every August-Oct every year; imcompetence was promoted; yes-men promoted; great people left or were laied-off! or given early retirement; I feel sad for Cisco. I hope for the best for one of the best companies of last decade. There needs to be a sole changing ... Get yur act together CISCO.

Just get out and find another job while you can. I know it feels comfortable until one is impacted and forced to find another. Please network and keep one leg in the market, so when these things happen, one can find another job quick. Do not stay comfortable. Cisco culture has become sick over the years and I did over 10 years and was rotting there. Get out and save yourselves and your family. A sinking ship with poor leadership. Make way more $ now elsewhere with added responsibility. Don't sell yourselves short. Wake up and open your eyes.

I am hearing 20% cut across cisco. Heard some projects in cloud bucket will be scrapped. I worked on 3 projects in last several years. All of them got scrapped. Cisco invest to develop products in house and then acquire company and scrap in house projects. What is happening with cisco?

Probably top leaders do not have any vision what they want to do?

Would that region be India? Indians are known to practice nepotism at a grand scale. Take a look at Qualcomm, and now defunct Texas Instruments and Motorola.
