Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Layoffs, Sept 28th. Stores, IT, Home office. They'll be effective Sept. 30th.

Trimming store staff, accounting, home office, everybody not a Director or above in IT to be offshored.

There is no way FSS IT will be hit. We have much to do and are shortstaffed already. Out-sourcing will only produce problems. Look at what happened with FHEG and Infosys.

If the chatter about consultants is accurate, working folks are screwed. The consultant is hired to validate the course of action the VP wants. The VP looks great for delivering great savings and a "great new structure". That's how the take pay and benefits, too. The use of consultants is one way we fell to this horrid place.

How much more can the stores be cut? How about cutting lots of vp's? What do they really accomplish that can't be done with rm's on a conference call?

Also heard consulting company to look at consolidating duplicate positions and eliminating overlap. FSS definitely , maybe HR and Acct. Finance area. Also heard some changes to GM area, reducing planners and managers. IT is pretty much gone, all outsourced. Warehouse and union cuts on table, maybe selling ADC.

For the past 3 years, layoffs have been based on length of time at Follett. Perhaps they will look at contributions for a change.

I heard they hired a consulting company to handle it. Don't know if it is true.

FSS will be shrinking as it consolidates with B&T.

Great, so much for CBs, PA, RnP, etc. ever being corrected & will still be the store's fault

How much more trimming can be done, especially at the store level, with all the directives they send? Shut them down? Oh yeah, that's what they did to the store I worked at.

This is consistent with the path Follett has been following ever since AOH announced Follett wasn't making enough money. She specifically mentioned IT costs. I think this is where Follett is headed whether OP knows the date or not. Development was told that head count would remain the same. They weren't told where that head count would be based. Looks like it will all be offshore.
