[Disagree and Commit] INTEL "Democracy"

Hello all INTEL minions. You should be aware how true INTEL Democracy (I should write "Democracy") works.

Please, read this article very carefully, and NEVER forget what is written here.

I nutshell (do not want to go to the details), democracy in INTEL is based on connections/longevity of your stay INTEL Inside. There are roughly two tiers of blue badges in INTEL: insiders and outsiders. You become insider after roughly 5 to 10 years of service, if you make it to the GR9/managerial level.

If you stay IC even after, you are always in danger to be pushed out/thrown under the bus. OK? General Rule in INTEL.

Your technical skills are entry ticket to INTEL, after that, they very quickly depreciate, and after 5 years they are worth NOTHING. Even if you are The Best, this means nothing in Insiders' Corporate World, INTEL Inside. Virtually nothing depends of your technical skills, since naked lies, fabrications, selling sh@t and worthless info are main part of this culture. And, of course, treating minions/outsiders as pure slaves.

The mgmt's technical skills (once valuable when hired) degrade over time. They need the ICs to do the dirty work for them so they can keep getting their paycheck. Has anyone ever actually seen a well organized FLM in Intel that knows what the hell he is doing? Their forte is to assign an IC a very important set if tasks, usually at 6 pm any night, and demand that it gets done by 6 AM the next morning. Never mind that you had your 30 yr wedding anniversary evening planned that night. Ruthless, cruel, totally disorganized and inept human beings.

If your FLM and SLM are trying to get promoted they will push projects through you. You will be promoted because of this. If your manager is close to retiring and doesn't' care about politics it will kill your career as they stunt your growth. If your pretty young you never want a manager older the 45 because they are not trying to grow, they just want to get paid until they retire.

The fundamental mistake that I made in coming to Intel was that my two decades of directly applicable experience, accomplishments and insight would be valued and useful inside Intel. They were a liability.

I second this!

In my brief experience at Intel before getting ISP'd (for being "new to Intel") I came to realize that the the support that proposals received was based primarily on who proposed (and senior executive interest in) them vs. whether they had merit.

Bad ideas from "insiders" have legs at Intel. Good ideas from "outsiders" go nowhere (unless stolen by an insider...and usually changed in ways that make them bad ideas).

The fundamental mistake that I made in coming to Intel was that my two decades of directly applicable experience, accomplishments and insight would be valued and useful inside Intel. They were a liability.

When no one could explain the logic behind what we were doing... I knew we were in trouble. And no amount of (1:1 or group) assistance was going to change course from the slow-motion train-wreck that we were part of.

I actually agree

There is no democracy in the business world though, the C-level rules, the board sometimes chimes in and the shareholders have no clue what's going on... Grunts do all the work.
