Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Warning signs

If you have 4 or more of the following characteristics:

  1. You carry a thermos in to work each day.

  2. There are any pictures of fish you caught on your cubicle walls.

  3. Your head is seen over the top of cubicle walls moving toward the exit at an extremely predictable time each day.

  4. When people ask for work from you, you require that a form be filled out.

  5. You have a cloth/nylon lunch bag with a long strap that you use every single day in a bright color. It goes with you at that predictable time each day.

  6. You can be seen carrying a newspaper to the restroom in the morning.

  7. Everyone likes you, but no one seems to know what you do.

  8. Of the 1000 acronyms you use, only 7 of them would be known to anyone outside of Intel.

  9. There is a parking spot outside that you consider 'yours'.

  10. You can remember your time in kindergarten better than your new employee orientation the day you started.

Then you're inside Intel on borrowed time or outside Intel lurking this site.

Just sayin....

Picking on other people and their traits is a good sign that you have too much free time on your hands. if you believe that it is always the other guy/gal who is worth less than you are it is just a matter of time before you will be given the opportunity to look at the company from outside. The main problem that Intel faces is lack of direction and leadership, which leads to the "grinding water" phenomenon. If you got the impression that employee productivity is so low, ask yourself whether it is not a direct result of corporate management ineptness. After all, Intel corporate management is staffed mostly with people who grew up inside the company and learned all the tricks necessary to climb up the ladder through political manipulations. The personalities of such politicians is not very conducive to innovation and they are mostly risk averse and skilled at diverting blame to their peers and underlings. My prediction is that by 2020, the Intel workforce would consist of 50-60k employees and the company will become exclusively a merchant Fab, with about half of the workforce being low-paid contractors (green badge). The current management team will be out by then, celebrating their "golden parachute" jumps. If you are lucky, you will be fired from Intel before seeing the stock price dropping to about $10/share.

"A lot of the leftovers are like this (they get to stay since they are good a$$kissers and/or bull$hitters). Hard-effort worker bees were laid off (along with a few bad apples) or quit. ACT has been a complete and utter failure in terms of targetting the correct employees to layoff and completely disintegrating employee morale in the process."

You missed sending emails on Saturday or Sunday evenings to tons of people pretending you are doing real work...that's a real sign of a bullshitter that need to be laid off.
