OP here - the overall hiring took a while.. applied with encore. Had another interview with the folks at encore. Selected and interviewed with the non-profit last Friday, offer the same day... I picked a Sept start date due to my personal wish.. they need help with many areas. I won't know if their are any negatives until after I start.

Have you met/talked to one of their placement people? They are quite keen on placing you somewhere. Having said that i agree that most of the open positions need senior level org skills. This year i heard they had 280 applicants way more than past so expect handling to be sluggish. However it is 25k free money for the org and in their interest to use your services and experience at somewhat higher rate than min wage.

I have applied for Fellowship but have not heard back of any placement. The positions I saw open were for very high level people so I may not qualify. They are looking for something 'way beyond an Intel Involved style volunteer. They probably should have made available a list of the fellowships before the ERP end date, so people could decide if the program was for them. Plus, I suspect a fair number of people, if not really ready for retirement but semi-forced by ERP, were hoping Encore would be interim income and might actually be better off looking for a new job.

Wish all the best for fellowship assignment to OP. What are some negatives about this work based on other response?

I need a job with good pay, not fun! Hope it works out for you. I've heard mixed reaction from past retirees I know.
