are hitting our store which does not have loss prevention. Management doesn't even have access to or doesn't know how to use the CCTV. I'm not sure if it even works. And, of course, we can't touch or chase after them. So, criminals in our community have caught on and are taking our goods every damn day.
If the police are called we basically waste their time because we can't provide them the footage. It's not their fault, they're just following the rules. Without some sort of proof, they cannot search and/or arrest the shoplifters.
At least our competitors make it a little difficult to steal. They have AP. At least they give a damn and want to try to stay in business. We don't even try. Only in bigger towns does Sears and Kmart have Ap staff, but they're probably cutting their hours and laying off a lot of them, just like they have everyone else.
Look out for the little wooden boxes coming to our stores any day now. Eddie is going to implement the honor system where our "members" will check out themselves: drop in their money and take out their change. Right next to the box will a calculator and some index cards to write a receipt.
This company is a big failure.
