Hang on for dear life, and milk this puppy for all that its worth and more!

Really.

No matter how you have to hang on. Do it.

These characters can not be trusted one bit. They are dreamers and schemers and profiteers. Pirates.

So rather than be the one to ask, like a famous Deppian pirtate, "Why is the rum always drunk?" Make sure they can't get the bottle away from you. Really.

It pays well inside there, and despite the evils, has its benefits. So collect.

Just watch your back.

Amen!

I have 7 to go which s---s because that means at least 2 more strikes I mean contracts. If we stand strong I'll be looking at around $380k for pension (down from $500k since I'm hitting the road at 25 years service and over the age 50 instead of doing 30) and hoping to get a $130k EISP (Enhanced Income Sercuity Plan for whoever asked) on my way out the door. Toss in $700k on the 401k and life isn't so bad (can't touch that yet since won't be old enough but it will be there waiting for me soon enough).

@IFoCY0G-3nea no explaination necessary.

You and the spouse are just getting what you earned, and what is due to you, and the reason why so many seasoned managers supported the union in the last strike.

The company wanted to do the unions what the did to us.

Take them for every penny that you can, because you know the company will screw you however they can to save a nickle to pi$$ away somewhere else, or line the pockets of the c-suite.

@3pkl,

Remember, that is two of us, husband and wife, but yeah whatever we make is household income -- goes into one pot and gets shared.

@IFoCY0G-3vzb. Nope. That is what the Union worker is getting. This 2nd Level Manager, got $56K in severene after taxes and $98K in pension - after 25 years. Bottom line to managers, if you can find a job outside of Verizon, take it. It does not pay to work for Verizon unless you are union.

@2UJK are those numbers for real? You will get $230k to leave the company? And 800k pension? What!?!?!

@2ids - The word manager and wise cannot be used in the same sentence when discussing Verizon.

Manager and scab is the best you can do.

@IFoCY0G-2ids

Your post clearly demonstrates why most of the seasoned Verizon managers actually backed the union in the last strike.

I was "retired" with the December 2015 RIF after 25 years of service as a manager.

My severence was 38 weeks of pay plus bonus. My pension is just under $100,000.

Finding another job when you are past 55 is not easy. Despite stellar credentials, education and 'protected' Vetertan Status (campaign medal) - I have yet to even land an interview. I warn fellow Veterans that Verizon is not really not the Veteran friendly company they pretend to be.

So now I drive for Lyft, Uber and anyone else who will pay me anything for my time.

When I started with the company, we had a "promise" of a pension and retiree health care benefits.

The manager pensions were stolen in 2005 by the CFO at the time, 'Doreen', and my "retiree healthcare benefit" will cost me $30,000 per year. Needless to say, I will be on Obama care at the end of September, when I declare bankruptcy.

In the last job action the company was intent on doing to the union and craft workers what it had done to its managers in 2005 because of mismanagement of the pension assets. It was a pleasure to see the union and craft workers beat the company back from it evil intentions.

I hope you folks never give up, and that the managers wise-up to what their future holds under the current leadership of the company.

Good luck!

My second level today said he expected an offer to come out in September, which means that a union family like mine (both of us are union associates) will get $229,800 to leave Verizon, and will have to live on $800,000 pension and $600,000 401(k) for the next 4 years until social security kicks in. Of course, like any union members, we only leave if we want to, as we have bargained for and won job security.

My thing with the post-2003+ group is they took this job knowing what the terms were and now want to change those terms. If you didn't like it you shouldn't have taken the job, not blame it on the ones that were here before you. The post-2003 group will outnumber the pre-2003 group soon enough and the no layoff clause will be gone, however it would have served its purpose by then as the pre-2003 group will be senior and wouldn't be the first to be laid off anyway. It kept the current employees employed when it was needed most and that is how it should always be. The post-2003 group can now enjoy being here before the post-2019 group as well, as it should be.

It's more like 2019 is going to be so much nicer without any of the post-2003er's around anymore...

Inside has already been gutted through attrition, nothing left to take. I know people driving over 6 hours a day to cover their turf, can't go skinnier than that without facing service level agreement issues that would negate any head count savings 10 fold.

2mqo - you sound mighty entitled. A scab is a scab... Most, not all but most, of the post-2003's don't realize how much less they would have if it weren't for the pre-2003'ers. The pre-2003er's know this and is why we have no problem throwing these ungrateful post-2003er's under the bus every contract since 2003.

Good, let all the pre-2003 union workers take the EISP so that they'll never be able to harass or demean post-2003 workers who cross during a strike. 2019 is gonna be much more pleasant without lists, intimidation, or any other crap from the protected workers. Take your EISP and leave us to handle ourselves without ever being harassed.

They are hiring in Potomac for outside techs...so I don't a eisp being offered...unless it's for inside employees

Nobody left in Potomac with enough time. Give 3 service and 3 age and see the flood gates open.

cdj- "They wouldn't if they cared at all about their staff" LOLOLOLOLOLOL, obviously you must be one of those "younger, lower salaried employees with young families to support" because that is not how things have worked around here for over a decade.

Verizon doesn't care. They put out whatever PC pablum gets them some attention. The tout themselves as putting Veteran to work at the same time that they lay them off. They put out that it is a family friendly place, but it is anything but!

I hope so....... It would win them points to be employee friendly and offer a package to staff who will leave for a package rather than layoff the younger, lower salaried employees with young families to support. How could they tout their Working Mother Awards if they lay off mothers and fathers rather than offering the same package to those who want to leave? They wouldn't if they cared at all about their staff. But we all know good old "Respect and Gratitude" Stratton. His words during the last layoff.

No, but then again this type of thing is kept on the down low. Just like any other staff reduction project.
