Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

If you've kept your skills up to date there will be 100's of jobs available inside and outside of Cisco.

I am a grunt in the trenches and have been for 16 years with Cisco. Look at the stock price over the last 16 years, no freebies to retirement during my time.

Not sure why anyone believes Cisco owes you anything when they've sent you a paycheck every two weeks that more then feeds your family and pays the bills. If you invested just a small amount in a 401k over 10-20 year span an employee should have a nice retirement package, take responsibility for yourself as the company gave you options.

I've had 16+ years of loving my job, working my tail off and loving the compensation along the way. If it all ended today I wouldn't have changed a thing.

If you've kept your skills up to date there will be 100's of jobs available inside and outside of Cisco.

You are so wrong. Part if cycling layoffs is to keep wages down so you have to exit ppl. And many reqs are not real.

dont worry. The managers themselves cannot perform 1% of your job. no one is even offering them any job. All this clout is short lived. when they will also be removed, you will already have a job outside; while they wont even get manager or IC job.

It is only for showcase that reqs are there but they are not for internal emps. Whoever has low strong performance will be thrown out and will not be taken if they try in any BU @ Cisco as HR will inform hiring managers not to touch those candidates. This is true. It is waste trying within Cisco once you know your job is in risk. Go out and come back if you have strong hiring mgr or 2nd line mgr reference.
