Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco is a corporation

Newsflash folks. Cisco is a corporation. A big, monstrous, soul-less corporation. Cisco don't care. Caring is not what Cisco does.

Cisco exists to stay in business. It used to innovate. Now it gobbles up innovators and spits out the bones every summer.

Cisco pays a dividend. That is the sign of a corporation reaching maturity.

The only question the "leadership" has to ask themselves is "How do I allocate capital?"

Investing in employees, R&D, Early Retirement and other choices are from a bygone era.

Cisco now primarily invests in India, share buybacks to pay execs and some wonky acquisitions.

Cisco has lost its way, folks. There will be no Cisco in 10 years.

Wang, Kodak and 100s of others have paved this course.

Cisco is eating itself. Look at the products! How many entire business lines does Cisco have that directly competes with another Cisco product? Customers are confused.

@50b0:

glad you will feel dignified by your LR; update this thread, when you interview with other companies and tell them you were LR'd- let us know if their response was of praise for your efforts to achieve the LR

Seeing all these employees hating Cisco that much, now it makes more sense to have a lay off. Well done Chuck, get rid of these lazy moaners. If I'm impacted, at least I worked hard, I still have respect to my company and I will leave with dignity.

As John Chambers correctly pointed out in next 5 years many big technology companies would be irrelevant or completely gone if they dont adapt. I think he was pointing to none other but the organization he led for 20yrs his beloved Cisco. I also suspect that he sees Cisco's end is imminent in next 5 to 7 years.
