You do realize that right now Refiners are being hit with a glut of gasoline. All refiners are down the past couple of weeks.
Remember when the airlines raised fare prices and began charging outrageous baggage fees? The cost of jet fuel had risen right along with the price of crude. Did customers get any relief when crude prices fell? What about all those consumer goods that were jacked up because of the steep trucking costs? O&G companies take the blame while others take advantage.
Don't think it's all refiners margins you see at the pump. If you've been paying attention many states have implemented new or increased gas taxes during the downturn while prices are low so less people scream. When prices go back up the oil companies are to blame... Never you mind the pile of taxes they snuck in there.
