Low margin business. Timeframe is 2018-2020. Intel will be a much smaller company by then.

@ - zmz - Good point. Intel has always been a market leader in new technology initiatives, throwing out marketing $$ and countless executive keynotes around the world. Intel creates the market pull, but then pulls out of any actual products other than x86. The WiFi/Centrino phenomenon whetted Intel's appetite, and it was a tsunami that was never repeated. ATCA was another good example. IoT is the current experiment, and to a lesser degree, SDN/NFV.

Intel has been full of sh!t for a while on 'advanced' technology.

WiMAX

DLP TV

CMOS Laser

Xpoint

GPU

Smartphones

Itanium

And on and on

If it's not an x86 processor it's been total FAIL.
