Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Oh great Cisco Leadership!

Cisco leadership is leadership at its finest. If I get cut, it is because I did not please Cisco leadership. Oh great Cisco leaders, if you must choose me for sacrifice, please make sure you have plenty of stock options so when the price goes up on the news of my job loss, you will at least get compensated.

I know it it hard to make these big, sweeping decisions, Oh great Cisco Leadership, so I want you to have millions of dollars to soften the difficult decisions to eliminate my job, hurt my children and alter my future.

Look at IBM or Ericsson - services is where they make all their money. We just aren't very good as a services company (the pieces we do are good, but we don't do the range of services that customers increasingly want - esp. in SP). Ericsson are well known for a deep and wide services offering. It's obvious to me (and others) that it makes sense to "leverage our partnership" with Ericsson and their services organization. Note: I have no knowledge of plans, but killing overlap between Ericsson and Cisco and increasing integration has to be "the next step".

I do not see Advanced Services mentioned anywhere. Does that mean AS is untouchable? I fail to understand Cisco - keep slashing Engineering, discontinue the product lines, kill the innovation but keep the Services arm untouched. Do they want to turn Cisco into a Services company?

Someone mentions 50% reduction in standard package. I don't know what the standard package is/was. Can you provide details? Thanks.

People keep mentioning Sales, BU, and marketing but what about supply chain? SC has a ton of people and there are many roles with whose tasks are currently being done by other teams. They need to streamline and either have SC own the work or other teams, not both.

Cannot volunteer, top performers would likely take the money and run to a competitor!! First round of LRs hitting Monday in SJC starting with BUs, then winding out to sales and marketing mid week globally. Word is 50% reduction in 'standard' package offer!

All the teams are getting hit, great time to get rid of the deadwood holding back the people that actually do work and not having to carry the deadwood.

The worse is when your told your team is safe and the team gets hit. All that does is nullify trust with leadership and Cisco. Let's face it. NO ONE is happy at Cisco. Integrity doesnt exist any more.

Knew I was a layoff target October 2014. I had great fun asking if we could volunteer to be laid off during company meetings.

Such fun watching the upper management squirm. Screws up their "we are a family" message when at every meeting someone brings up the subject of layoff and asks please let me leave.
