Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Travel to India to train

I just got asked if I could travel to India for 2 weeks to train....are you F'ing kidding me? Train someone to take my job? I politely said no thanks.....a bit ironic being they've never officially made a statement the work is going to India and don't they know folks have to get shots and passports? Smh another poorly executed plan.....ridiculous!

Whole trip, let's say 10k or so... for the bank (India cost of living is dirt cheap, hence the offshoring). Lose your job afterwards, 40k-80k maybe a year... for you, if you don't find one quickly after being let go.

Might be worth it if that's what you like.

The previous comment is probably from one of the ppl who were trying to convince you to go train your replacements. The past 2 yrs BOA has become an evil animal. Training trip to India will be no vacation believe me

It is a work vacation since I already did it. You travel business class, ticket price alone is over 6k, depending on a season. You get assigned a driver and a guide and they will make sure you have fun while there. And sure, keep praying, prayers do so much. You can also try to hashtag it and maybe add temporary Facebook picture- that helps too.

First of all this is NOT a vacation are you crazy? Go google what it entails going from USA to India. Secondly, I was not on the working notice list for being laid off and I didn't "refuse" to go. Some of us have family commitments and other circumstances that do not allow to up and leave the country. My department is irrelevant at this time. There are far more important things on my resume then going to India to train work being off shored. What a joke. If a layoff is coming it is what it is and I'll keep praying about it!

To the comment below, who cares which dept they work in, other employees are already training their replace by phone this happens all the time. Are you trying to pinpoint that anonymous person to report them to management?

What department do you work in?

HAHA, we were tricked into "training" others to do our job. It was a mandatory thing for us to enter into a "KB" (Knowledge Base) 3 entries a week for issues we dealt with. It wasn't direct training but material that would be used to train others when dealing with the same type of issues that we handled and effectively letting others do our job. I refused to do those when I was in that department.

The last 2 responses are spot on. Who the heck would take it and be happy to go to India? No thanks. The bank has sunk to a new low.

Some think this would be a vacation, you are so wrong, the bank will expect you to complete 6 weeks training in 2 weeks then lay you off before that dysentery you picked up kicks in

Am the only one that read the job is being outsourced, this person is getting laid off, but first, go to that country and train your replacements? This isn't a vacation, this is a slap in the face. Furthermore, stupid move on the company for pissing off a loyal associate by laying them off and expecting they'll train appropriately.

If you could manage the trip with your life ( childcare etc) you should do it, great thing to put on your resume not to mention life experience. And if they want to get sh--ty you might get let go earlier for refusing. Be calculating at all times, trust me you're managers are, it's the end game for them in getting things done

Will this effect anyone from India on H1-B Visas here in the US already? Irony them losing jobs to these overseas trainings.

You should have gone. Business class ticket, organized sightseeing trips, five star hotel etc. Looks like your role is going there anyways, why not at least get a paid vacation out of it?
