I think Verizon is up to no good in the Wallingford, CT call center. If you've noticed they are hiring around the other call center and have not Hired since the beginnig of the year over here. Something is definitely brewing up here in Wally World! Bet you they don't offer packages to all these folks. But you'll sure be able to collect that unemployment right away!

To all those displaced. The coolaid that we drank is sour at the end bitter and maybe jaded. However know this on the outside there are opportunities. As a former Verizon employee you will be desirable.
I was part of the first wave in 2015. It was depressing they way we were downsized. However in 3 months I received numerous interviews, 4 solid offers of employment and still had requests coming in.
Do not despair. There is light at the end of the tunnel

What about letting certain departments go? I doubt they'll get rid of sales but could see them letting care or tech go.
Ronan Dunne's track record in the UK has shown he's done well with downsizing, outsourcing, and creating more self serve options for customers which equals less need for the customer service role. VZW has been ramping this up for a while now with over 20 Vendor call centers who get paid very little and no benefits. Now with the new self serve app, push to Tech Coach, and hiring freezes at a lot of centers.... the rumors I hear are that we'll get the RIF's started first quarter 2017. Ronan officially starts Sept and there's no doubt he was hired to clean house efficiently.

I will never understand why Verizon would have company owned wireless stores. The same wireless employees that treated the union workforce as the enemy, is the same group that better organize. The 3rd party stores will hire you, at slave wages.
I wouldn't give any call center a snowballs chance in hell - period. The writing is on the wall. But I also would not give company owned retail stores much of a fighting chance either. I think they will all become indirects or close at some point.
Maybe my views are pessimistic, but Verizon doesn't value its employees or its customers. So theres that...
There have been rumors all year that Wallingford, Charlotte and Lincoln are being closed. It was supposed to happen earlier in the year, but was delayed by the strike. With calls being outsourced overseas to less expensive resources wireless call centers will start to get shut down. Get those resumes and LinkedIn profiles updated now.
