Hey Bozo, buck up little buddy. I will take you to get some ice cream to cheer you up. I will be parked outside in my van. You can't miss it. It has a sign on the back window that says "free candy"

I generally do not like to vent outside my circle of friends and family, but seeing how this forum feels so homely I cannot help myself...

... The complete and overwhelming level of ineptitude at all levels of management are profound.. How many clueless and detached managers does one person need? Aparantly alot.It appears that a complete and total lack of awareness and business sense are traits coveted by the powers that be...

Instead of taking advantage of the opportunity presented to demonstrate value and worth of the lab, precious time, resources and reputation were wasted on a losing bet.. And lost again and again when continually pursued when it was blatantly obvious to anyone watching that the horse was dead.

It really is quite sad. As a former employee with COP at the research center, there has and will be a great number of exceptionally talented and good people let go. I am employed currently at The PRC albeit for P66 and I don't enjoy hearing about friends/former colleague's that have or may be let go. I have learned from the last layoff and even more since that COP's management is extremely flawed. If the rest of COP at The PRC is not let go immenently, I believe it to be a matter of time until there is no COP presence at The PRC. From the last round of layoffs I can say with full confidence... Expect poor decisions to be made. I have found that performance ratings don't necessarily matter, current workload doesn't necessarily matter, and the importance of your role does not necessarily matter. Although too late for most, given the job environment in the area, I would and have for several months, strongly encouraged that people look into positions with other companies. The current job market is highly competitive and will only get worse. Current scientists, engineers, and technicians with COP at The PRC are, for the most part, absolutely spectacular at their jobs. I wish them all the best.

What about the production labs at research center? Are they keeping those? Heard 3rd party might take over labs

They are selling off the equipment to whoever bids on it and they have the next couple months of finish off projects. Conoco is losing some very talented employees.
