I am. Single parent here. Can't afford this LR game.
Having escaped one too many Cisco LRs for my peace of mind, I tapped out on technology after a 25 year career to focus full time on what was formerly a creative sideline. Though my new gig is not nearly as lucrative, I love being my own boss. There's no politics, no corporate hierarchy, no work culture/personal values misalignment, and no dependence on Wall Street's toxic, short-term whims.

The future is more change. It always has been in tech. Always.
The wildcard now is offshoring. This is pressuring salaries. So no matter what, expect wage pressure. My recommendation if you want to stay in tech is to not work for a multinational.
Career change? I'm considering accounting, but I'm hearing the genious leaders of our corporations are are targeting that as the next off shoring skill. So I don't know.
