I know for a fact that mollenkoph went to the white house shortly before lay off.....Qualcomm is in bed with the white house and Obama, this is how Qualcomm gets away with illegal activities.

More cuts are coming to Procurement, IT and other divisions. Qualcomm's presence in San Diego will be shrinking fast!

@1ytb, your sh--ting me right? IT helping engineering is completely laughable.

I'm not sure IT is overhead in the same way that finance and accounting are. IT is directly responsible for helping engineering get stuff done. All finance and account do is make life harder for engineering.

@ywe

As was posted time and time again. The state of Qualcomm has very little impact on the housing market in san diego. Demand for housing in SD is driven by cheap money and lots of it moving here...Not so much QC.. And for the most part, folks in non-essential job functions at QC can't afford to live in most of San Diego since benefits are not nearly as good as engineering benefits at QC.

Weren't some of you predicting a housing crash right after the layoff? Still waiting.

Just like accounting, Qualcomm is make the right decision in cutting non-core engineering to the bone.

This is overhead, just like finance and IT. When times were good, and business was booming, QC needed all these supporting functions to grow along with the business. When business needs to be right sized, it's time to cut down on non-essential jobs... HR should be cut too.

Qualcomm is an engineering company. More cuts elsewhere. But Engineers first.

Violation of H 1-B Law. H1-B Visas are only permitted if no qualified US Citizens are available to fill positions. Tata and Qualcomm are violating the law. U.S. Justice Dept. and Congress- go after Qualcomm for breaking the law!

These are American jobs that are gone forever ; Qualcomm will make sure new reqs are being created to bring new Indians h-1bs to replace them and demonstrate overall headcount stay the same.

It will NOT be easy for fired Qualcomm Buyers to find jobs in San Diego! Not enough openings- many will have to move.

San Diego has a glut of Buyers. Further firings at Qualcomm will force Buyers to move out of

San Diego!

The QC Glbal Procurement Senior Director and all the software buyers are impacted. Others have already been sacked. Key Buyers are being fired at Qualcomm. Other IT Senior employees will also be fired. Suppliers are complaining it takes more than a month for a Purchase Order to be placed. The fat has been trimmed now Qualcomm is cutting he bone!

QC's foolish Executive Management is cutting the bone! Lots of Qualcomm employees are creating Linked In accounts and sending Invitations for the first time. Failure! Wall Street will notice! 😝

I'm sure procurement folks will be able to easily procure themselves another job. Then again, instead of being able to just buy something quickly and efficiently myself, I have to go through 3 or 4 bean counters that invent process just to inflate their own salaries and job security, which readily triples the cost of any purchase I make.

xlp: well said; controlled immigration is the fundation of American melting pot; Qualcomm should be prosecuted for corrupting this system ; unfortunately Hillary gets millions from special interest corporations like Qualcomm Apple etc... And the system is corrupt.

From what I heard from a QC insider yesterday (whose group got their notices several weeks ago) - procurement already got their notices.

The next US President and Congress MUST take drastic measures to protect American workers from Corporate crime and abuses like this, severely

limit H 1-B Visas and prosecute overseas money laundering! Qualcomm is a major offender!
