Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I too am a top performer in my team (had exceptional, X grading, won awards etc) and have the dreaded 1:1 meeting on Thursday 18 Aug.

I believe it's a short call (15 mins) outlining your package and general information on the next steps. You have 30 days to find another job within Cisco - if that is what your intention is and if you can get an offer which you accept within 45 days of the notice date, you will just be moved.

HR is briefing the managers on the LR script. It is very traumatizing and its difficult to accept initially. This is an re-org regardless of your personal abilities or capabilities. Just wrong place wrong time.

Just start working on your next steps - updating CV, talking to people, check out LinkedIn etc

I was told by a manager who left Cisco shortly before I did that this time the layoff would be based more on a person's cost, and not their performance. So all grade 11s and 12s who aren't people managers have a target in their backs.

when a ship is sinking, the last thing survivors want is other strong survivors who can compete.

No reason to find it traumatizing, really, it's a business transaction.
