Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

1:1 Will Be Scheduled With All Employees

That's my understanding, so having a 1:1 will not indicate if you are being LR-ed - check with your peers if you've got an invite - this may be just a discussion where the manager will spend time to reassure you that you are a valuable part of the team and that nothing will be chaining for you.

I know, sounds like wishful thinking but that may be the case here.

I've survived many layoffs and have never had a 1:1 scheduled around the time of the layoff. This Thursday 8/18 I have 1:1 scheduled. I'm relieved to hear the post that says 1:1's are being scheduled by their managers for all people. Our manager did tell us last week he was scheduling them for this week but wondered if he really was going to do it or whether is was done so as not to increase the stress on people.

Yes, LR training happen last week. It will be robotic. Regarding the comment on Tupperware containers, it will be nice to have fewer of them. They are typically festooned with toxic foul food of questionable origin.

I shudder every time I have to go near the lunch room around noon as the microwaved stench of various squiggly bits and stinky fish (accompanied by fogs of curry) belch out into the hall making me want to puke- basically, smells like a tallow bin. Couple the stench with the cacophony of slurping and slopping sounds of those devouring their "meals" and you have the makings of a horror movie.

I know managers who went thru the LR training and the managers have been instructed to schedule 1:1's with all of their staff (not just the impacted individuals). Weird.

There will be a lot less glass Tupperware lunch containers in the Cisco break room refrigerators in a month or so. Don't let the door of that sh--ty 18 hour flight to Mumbai hit you in the a--. on the way out.

I've been through 1 LR and seen many LRs in non-Cisco companies in the Tech sector.

1:1 mean LR. Those remaining have a group meeting.

This seems to be a general trend in the Tech sector.

@1fkb this time layoff.com will be faster than any grapevine

In my experience, those getting laid off get 1:1 and the rest of us just hear who got impacted through the grapevine. Honestly, I thought that was in poor taste.

@dvy - I find it peculiar that you misspelled "meeitng" while managing to correctly spell "padmasree"

@acs speaks truth. I survived many LRs - never got a 1:1

Respectfully disagree. I've been through 1 LR and seem many others. The one time I got LR I also got 1:1. All the other times where I was not targeted I never got a 1:1. Only a post-carnage group meeting.
