Lots of Murthy lovers in this thread. Really, what was he done so far at Intel? Layoff 12K using questionable selection criteria at best? A half-baked vision with lots of flowery language but no clear strategy whatsoever? This guy is here just to milk the company dry, with all sorts of golden parachutes to get out if things get ugly along the way.

BK may be the hardest worker, but the most stupid and lowest intelligence of them all. Give me credit he is bringing in outsiders but his inability to see and filter for himself will be the downfall of Intel. Murthy while brilliant isn't the leader, and as such Intel still in BIG trouble.
Murthy may fix the product/design side but has no clue on the largest part of Intel the TMG and that is the problem. TMG is simply rotten and broken and need of complete overhall, yet everyone in that pipeline currently from the top down has no management, little technical and NO outside prospective. That is different from all the other major Semiconductor manufactures. Think about that for a bit. TMG led by insiders while every other major play has PhDs with lots of external experience who do you think got a clue, LOL
Under the leadership of the Intel Trinity, Intel was "the most important company in the world."
It is no longer.
The elevation of BK, Murthy, Bryant and Stacey demonstrates that Intel has completed the transition from being visionary game-changer to legacy manufacturer seeking to cut costs and cling to margins.
Of course, the rhetoric doesn't match this reality but, if it's to survive, Intel's going to need to become a much leaner and more efficient place than it currently is. And that's going to mean more and more layoffs, offshoring, cuts to R&D and the like.
So far, Murthy's contribution has been to say "Our products aren't sufficiently customer-focused". Most engineers could code up a management bot capable of spouting cliches like this in short order, and at a lot lower cost than Murthy's salary and signing bonus. Like our acquisitions, we over-paid for Murthy and get little in return. And one final note -- a flashy bio is not a substitute for actually delivering results.

Bashing a guy in the top 25bps on education scale. Lands in this country on H1 visa 100 bucks in pocket moves into Sr Exec level within 5 years. Heads up major fortune 500 company in short order. Most of you had access to MIT, Cal Tech could not get in or cut it. Had access to cheap student loans at OSU or some other 3rd rate school. Have little to show other than mediocrity. If you are so smart go to the Board and get hired....what a group of losers.

Things going well, rather like my 25Million, personal car/plane. BK treats me like God and trusts me on all things product and I love telling the TMG folks exactly what I think.
I do have to say I'm shocked at the idiots that were promoted into senior positions and the total lack of courage at the company, but nothing I can't fix.
BTW when intel goes down, I'll just take my golden parachute to my next gig

The operative word is "trying": Intel's culture, infrastructure and expertise are working against it in all three of these areas. And the leadership that's in place has no clue how to get there from here.
Sure they'll burn more money, acquire and ruin more companies and invest in more "partnerships" with big name companies (i.e. buying friends) but nothing will come of it except people claiming illusory accomplishments on FOCAL (and of course blaming workers for not buying into their vision with enough gusto)...
