Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears signing system is killing us

Signs for many items are replaced yet the price stays the same week after week. Only the takedown date changes, and sometimes it is taken down before it is supposed to only to be replaced with the same exact sign.

What's the logic behind that? Paper and ink doesn't spoil!

Too many emergency signs, too many signs that are set up and taken down in less than a week for things that aren't even featured in an ad.

To top it off, the system spits out hundreds of signs we don't need and conveniently forgets the signs we do need. Even if we request the signs we do need and tell the system that we no longer need the ones we don't, the system doesn't comprehend anything. Every time we have an ad set, there are piles of signs that are thrown away that were duplicates or for items not carried in the store. There's so much waste it's not even funny.

The SNCs used to scan the signs are so terribly slow and unreliable. The ad set process would be so much smoother without these.

It's aggravating and just more work for our store that has a lack of people to deal with this. Our store is certainly not alone in this.

I wonder how much money Sears is wasting on such an inefficient signing and pricing system in terms of payroll and supplies. Yeah, it's not enough to bankrupt the company, but then again it is in their best interests to cut back on such blatant wastefulness when possible.

Today (Sunday) was adset day... 80% of the signs were repeating the price, as it does every week. The original poster is right, the signing system is screwed up beyond hope. I don't feel like I need to go into all pf its problems... If you work for Sears in a store you know all about it. Corporate hasn't even tried to fix this horrible system. Why should they... Sears exists to be sold off for parts like a junk car. (well just about all of the parts are gone)... The stores are open to pay the property taxes on the real estate until someone comes along and buys it, that is all.

Hahahaha. You know, those SNCs are a waste of time and garbage. So signing and pricing and ad set are all a waste of time and payroll. My biggest laugh though are the metrics for backroom. Stock Locator! Once you back stock something and it's located, why are the associates having to waste their time re-scanning (good luck with all the sh--ty SNCs) merchandise in the stock room and refreshing stock locator? Oh you got a truck to unload with only 2 people? That's great but you have until the end of today to fix your sh--ty 85% stock locator metric. WAIT WHAT?!

To the fine folks still at Sears...there is life at the end of Sears and I made a great decision awhile back and everything has been for the better. Do not let fear or fear of change control your life. Put yourself out there and inquire with friends and family for job opportunities. Make contacts in the community and network. Refresh that resume and hit as many places as you can. Frustration, unhappiness, anger, and fear....get rid of them and move along.
