There were articles in the press last week saying Intel is going to sell off McAfee.. Does anyone know if it got sold or it is yet to? If yes, who bought it?

Some speculation that it will be a spin off, not a sale. Intel to keep 51%. Anyone else heard this?
Private equity to buy it for pennies on the dollar and try to flip it. Intel needs cash badly for its big bet on the future (AKA Altera).

When I read about it never could figure how a software security had any synergy to a chips manufacturing company... But hey that same set of leaders thought WiMAX and a host of other escapades were worth billions... But layoff 12k and kick them to the curb while the company still makes billions in profit totally fine another BKing move.

@rrz you don't understand. She's a diverse woman. She can't screw anything up. If you think she did, go back and reread that rule.
How does Renee James figure she can lead a company as CEO after she screwed up a small, insignificant business within Intel so badly?
If it is taken over by private equity, McAfee will have to shed a lot of fat.. All non-core functions will get outsourced, so the focus gets back into product development. This move is good for those in product development (of course, the products that are making profits). Those in support functions like IT and HR will be thrown out and their work outsourced to some third party. PEs will be happy to get it listed back again as their exit strategy after a couple of years.
