Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The people answering the phones don't seem to really know what is going on with the $9k either. Best to ask them to open a ticket, which will go to a higher level. I spent about 3 hours on the phones with them yesterday to straighten out a few issues, and the cobra was the one they couldn't figure out. They kept telling me to call a different department, which meant being on hold for 45 minutes each time.

That said, we don't get to move on just yet. Even after you get the $9k, you will still have to figure out the month of December's insurance... Wish they had made it 7 months to get it nice and clean to the end of the year.

For ISP/VSP there is no SERMA account (retirement only) but as another poster noted, the default ISP/VSP was for Ibtel to pay Cobra for 6m + $9K pre-tax lump sum.

Other option was employee sent back a separate, specific form by a certain time, they could 'opt-in' opt'ing for Intel to pay 12 months of Cobra, no cash. Both options clearly documented as part of severance package.

Problem seems to be no one seems to know how or when the get $9K gets paid, keeping things dragging on and on for those that want & need to be done and walk away.

ERP (which I am) gets what Intel calls "2 years of paid medical". However, I've come to realize that they can't offer more than 18 months of COBRA (guessing it's a law or something). So what Intel has done to offer us MORE than 18 months, is to pay for the 18 months of COBRA, then they are ADDING money to our SERMA accounts to cover the cost of the additional 6 months (that gets you to the 2 yrs they are talking about in their package).

For the single people it's $6102 and for those with a family on their plan they give you an additional $12,098. I might be off by a few bucks but no longer have access to my Intel email which is where I had all this info. That additional money added to your SERMA is for you to pay for your own insurance (actually, Intel "paid" for it, you get to go out on the market and buy your own with the money that Intel gave you to do that).

Hopefully that makes sense for ERP folks.

I received check for SPP refund, but haven't seen my severance money yet! it's way past 2 pay cycles!!

Hewitt site? do you mean www.intel.com/go/myben? The process so complicated and there is nobody to coordinate such that we have no idea how to get the money back but keep call Intel and pray one day happens all in a sudden.

for VSP, its 12 months of COBRA or 6 months + 9K cash.

What is his 9K Cobra money I keep hearing about? I took ERP and we were told Intel would pay the Cobra but I don't have anything saying that I personally get any money? I signed up for Cobra via phone to the benefits center (Aon Hewitt) as soon as I was terminated, but I haven't seen any actual physical paperwork.
