First anger, then acceptance. It's normal, but you've got to let it go and move on, folks. Let the past management flourish or rot as they will. Focus on landing that new job and when you do, you'll be glad that what happened was actually a blessing since you now have a new gig, a big unexpected signing bonus from your old employer, and a much brighter and more secure future.

There are plenty of senior people still working professional company jobs into their 50s and 60s.

INTEL will do new 20K (Y2017) + 20K (Y2018) layoffs. Ought to happen. Layoffs in INTEL are good. Layoffs in INTEL are right. With arrogant leading idiots and management cock-roaches style, weak personalities, pathetic liars... BK 7 or BK 11 will rule, sooner or later.
Six figure ISP plus six figure stock does a lot to sooth the pain. That nice paid healthcare thru 2017 is good too.
As to the previous poster's comment, I think those still at Intel need to figure out when they need to get out and also hope the next package is as good as the future is a smaller intel, much smaller. It isn't just the managers but everyone down to the contract folks.

Anger? My anger disappeared the minute I saw the ISP package. Moved to a new job with cash in hand. I'd be really worried if I was a PE or a manager at Intel. Where are they going to find another $200K-$300K job for doing nothing? They have zero value in the market.
Intel is totally broken, the sad thing for people still there is how management is spinning things and worse how they are trying recover. The company has such resources and talent and never has so much been managed so poorly. The capability and money is the envy of all other semiconductor companies but so sad what has happened.
As to layoff that is one small event of so many miss managed things by CRB, worse by PSO and BK is truely the worst so far and likely going to get uglier as the fundamentals have never been worse nor the leadership more lacking.
I had no anger regarding WHY restructuring was done, HOW was deplorable.
