Thread regarding Sears layoffs

I don't want to go to Kmart to work anymore

today, this morning as I get ready for work, something inside me says "I just need to bury it and move on".

I think that I don't want to go to a new job...but I will and I'll look back and say "I should have done that sooner!" Gotta get through today and then think how to pull myself up by my bootstraps or maybe DON'T think. Just get the HELL OUT! IT IS TIME

I left SHC Corporate without a job - it was not worth the stress or the fight any longer and it was the best thing I have ever done. I will find something else for a company that I believe in and that values me as an employee.

In our store there are only three, I repeat three, associates who have been with the company longer than two years. One has been with Sears for over 30, one has 10 years and the other has 5 years with the company. All the rest of us have only worked for Sears for two years or less. My store has at least half of the employees who have only worked for less than a few months. We just hired six new people this month because we had 10 people quit within a month. Even the manager has only been with the company for a year and he is looking to leave by the end of summer. No one knows what to do or company policies except the three I mentioned. I wonder how other stores are doing?

A lot of long-term and high-performing commissioned sales associates are leaving Sears in droves from what I have been hearing.

They are tired of the BS of cut commissions, competing with their own company (Sears.com, Sears call centers) and most of all, the fact that Sears has no future.

These people are the bedrock of Sears. They have the knowledge, experience and drive. Every store has two or three of these sales associates, give or take. If they go, the company is toast for sure.

From what i hear most of the higher ups at Hoffman are getting out or looking. You know when the higher ups want to get out then they know the jig is up. I left over two years ago and have never regretted a minute of it. Work for a company who cares about their employees, twice as much pay, twice the benefits, twice the retirement and job security. Your experience and commitment to a job well done mean something to other companies and are appreciated unlike SHC who only wants to use you and then get rid of you when you are no longer a part of their plan. Get out now and never look back.

I spent the last 7 years of my time at Sears trying to find another job. And that was 20 years ago when the company still had the appearance of being competitive. Exit strategy paid off. Best advice is to have one and follow through when an opportunity arrives.

Best move I ever made! ...and I had what I considered an above average salary in my field working for Sears...not worth the stress of 0 job security...the only thing that kept my job somewhat secure was so many recently resigned...running on fumes in hoffman...and I smelled of gas everyday!
