Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Who thinks Intel will be successful in 5G?

And what factors are different from the abysmal failure in 4G?

Intel is always late to EVERY party. They must think "being fashionably late" is the thing to do.

Intel is already late to the iot party. Carriers will be the biggest winners in 5g. For the love of god, someone please correct me.

OP, nobody thinks Intel will do anything significant in 5G. It's a completely stupid strategy. I've come to expect moronic plans from this leadership squad of retards.

@IhbGJDx-mrj I had a skip level.

They told me Moore's Law was all well, we are few breakthrus away from yield

They told me with the refocused teams we'll have killer 5G, Foundry, and IoT products will all come in ontime, they said Murthy has fixed the design side, and of course Sohail is fixing the process side.

Intel Rocks... now let me answer that page.

Intel is a changed company, we got rid of all the old and underperformers that held us back all these years. We got all the new movers and shakers from Qualcomm, they are overhauling all the design methodology and setting new standards for schedule and execution that are old managers simply couldn't do.

We have a new process that is design friendly that enables simple no touch TI from our product folks, and of course it is high yield and great and better than TSMC. I hear all our designers love the Intel process over the foundries.

5G and IoT will generate 10 billion in revenue and 60% GM in the next year as these products roll out and my toaster, garage door opener, light and everything else in my house will have an Intel inside product sold that intel gets 60% GM on, totally dude intel is going to ROCK IT!

It's totally stupid.

Suppose by some miracle Intel gets competent in 5G. Then what? You still need an apps processor to integrate it with.

These execs can't think their way out of a paper bag.

5G is the next generation and how many competitors are there?

When was the last time intel succeed where there wasn't a huge "wall" protecting the company, NOT ONCE.

Intel will fail after spending billions, they don't have the design skills, the design pace, the design discipline nor do they know analog/cell/baseband, they can barely execute x86 with no competition.

5G will run the course like all of Intel's past pushes that weren't x86.

BTW 5G leverages NONE of intel's minscule strength x86 IP protected design, X86 tuned process,

Tell me again how is 5G going to save intel?
