This man had so many people participate in harassing people. The sad little minions believed the lies he spewed out and went forth harassing people for him. He used the fearful minions. Those with low self esteem, the aged, the unhealthy. They were so fearful that they did vile things in return for promised security or money. Karma has and will continue to find each one of them. This man was extremely paranoid and wasn't honest. It is shocking how many were eager to fall in line to support his efforts to take someone down. It is truly pathetic.

Thank goodness that useless POS is gone! He talked like he has a mouthful of sht ('cuz it was full of bullsht), he was a one trick pony with the "hassle-free tenets" and if I heard one more military story I was going to puke. So long you under-qualified K-Fart stooge.
Can't wait to see the rest of them drop one by one. Yes, you know who you are and Ray is coming after you - DY, JB, PS, RN, JH, CW! Make Follett great again! LMAO! ROFL!
Remember the earlier post,
*Remember leaders struggle too...Suicide has increased in our world. *
I wonder if DG is struggling now too? His master business plan was to lay off as many of the worthless (in the families and his opinion) dead wood full time associates and replace them with pt associates with no benefits (money in the families pocket!). What a stroke of genius! This was the plan to better service our clients. I'm sure there are hundreds of companies that would love to hire him a to implement his master business plan. The part where he keeps a straight face and tells you that hiring a bunch of pt associates will better service our clients (not what he's really thinking - make the shareholders richer) is priceless!
Ding Dong the Don is gone, the Don is gone, the Don is gone.😄😄😄
Here are some similarities. Both are considered technology lagards with outdated technology and processes. Both are considered "old school" retailers clinging to outdated retail models while newer competitors ate their lunch. Both are retailers who main strength is convenience versus anythings else.
Having experience in both the ACE co-op and Follett models have few similarities
Pay a visit to an ACE hardware store. We are now following the ACE hardware retail model.
I agree, however, is our market really declining or is it the way we do business? We have been pushing customers away for years with outdated business models, standardized practices and pricing structures. To me that's not a natural decline, just bad business. Even the standard retail structure that is being foisted upon us is outdated. Come on. We are a billion dollar company, can't we do better than outdated?
Acquisitions always happen in a mature and declining market. There is no growth that can occur organically so companies begin to buy other companies to grow the top line. The key is cutting the duplicate admin functions to make an adequate return after factoring in the financing costs.
SD CEO? Give me break!!!!!! Totally unqualified
DG gone, who cares! Damage is done. It's too late, it's too late....
Deaton CEO?
Find an Org chart from 3 years ago and start x-ing out all of the tenured people let go, replaced with Sears KMart Office Max wanna-bes. There is no coming back, all of the knowledge is gone. The fat is still there. They cut the wrong people.
Please....cut the fat!!! We keep losing great people- is B& T really taking over ? I was on the FSS side but I sympathize with others on the retail side. Why did we buy them if we're broke ???
All I have to say is I hope we figure this out. This industry is not dead. It just needs to move out of the 70s like the online guys have. And I truly believe that a standard retail approach is not the
Unfortunately at Follett we have two kinds of projects namely business successes and IT failures. Needless to mention what differentiates men from boys is accountability and ownership.
Seasoned and bonafide business professionals understand bad/poor/lousy business strategy leads to poor business result and wrecks Irrevocable damage. IT is an enabler and enables corporate/ business strategy if one exist.
following orders is no excuse! Ever!
Maybe ask Don how he drove people out using his famous Marine tactics, breaking them thru the use of the Crucible (look it up online). BREAK PEOPLE - what a fabulous method of building a team. I didn't know Follett was part of the US military and we had new training techniques. DG was a HUGE part of the problem, along with mr sociopath GT. And let's not forget Bloody Mary. And ineffective SS. All on my top ten of worst leaders EVER in my career. Liars, idiots, conniving jerks. They ruined many peoples' lives, cutting a broad swath thru the long tenure ranks. RG is a stop gap until the end comes. He also has a contract, and when it is up and no progress made, then..... Done. 86. Over and out.
DG gets too much blame. there are 50 senior vp's and vp's at Follett who all share the terrible performance. RG shares blame as well as he is moving way to slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I am sure he is going to retire before long, accomplishing a quad redesign and innovation suggestion box.
IMO, DG didn't support some of his good people and gave others far too much room to do as they want.
It's just too late to fix Follett. How do you expect the family to run a profitable business with all of the long term associates gone? By the time they get in replacements, the end is near. It takes time to recover, and they just don't have enough time left to get good people in to turn this mess around. You can't fix three years worth of crap in a year. All that knowledge gone, everyone good, either canned or quit. DG leaving makes us feel good, but the truth is, there is nothing that can save Follett now. It is ruined beyond any help. This next rush will be the final straw imo- the last gasp before the end.
So with your philosophy....I should not be held accountable for my teams short comings. I agree Don needed to go. However, his rein of terror was justified with every pay check he continued to receive.
If you dont see or understand the damage that mls, gt, and dg did to this company you are an idiot or you were part of their nonsense and should exit with them.
The true is that prior totheir egotistical ways this company was thriving. In 3 shorts years under their turmoil this company has tanked. It was them that wiped out, forced out, and drove out every person in this company that knew anything about the book business.
I have heard things about ray in his short time here that have me feeling more and more confident we are making changes to get this company back on the right track.
Yes we have some work to do. Remember we were put into a nearly bottomless pit from previous leadership that he is cleaning out and we are just starting to build the ladder to climb out.
Our hopes are that its not too late and we can climb but do not blame Ray for what happened prior to him taking over.
I believe DG was just being a good solider and following orders. RG is the one we have to worry about. We are in big trouble as long as he can not see past his nose. He is so short sighted and only worries about himself. It shows in the slaughtering. A true leader would have whipped himself and team into shape first. Where's your accountability RG? I have to agree, you focused on the wrong level. The demands keep coming down x 10. You have no one left to execute them or who is left....well sir, most just don't give a rats behind. Leaders inspire hope. Leaders lead by example. Leaders provide tools. Leaders back their words up with action. You can start by cleaning out the dead weight on your team(s).
Many if us didn't receive a small fraction of the respect Ray showered on that failure. He's worried about the wrong people. He hasn't noticed that something drove the customers away. He hasn't noticed the lack of experience in the rank and file puts the company at grave risk. The emporer has no clothes!
We have so many because someone has to supervise those 23 associates left! Makes sense to me lol.
That's the point! So why do we still have so many?
47 vp's of what? That many departments & employees left to vp over?
1 group president
4 EVPs
13 SVPs
47 VPs...
A lot more fat to cut! Some of these people only have 3 reports under them. Talk about a waste of payroll. Put the payroll back where it belongs and just maybe we will start seeing results!!!
So he left on his own and took his admin with him? Doubt it!!
Pursue other opportunities....we know what that means.
But let's be realistic. DG is gone not because him, MLS, RG, TH, SS ruined the lives of Follett employees. He is only gone because Follett financial results were and are very poor. This change does not bode well for the rest of the employees who will also face layoffs based on financial performance. Keep in mind that RG has publicly stated that expenses will say in line with top/bottom line financial declines.
LOL....FY17 goals are in place. Anybody know what those goals are - or the plans to reach those goals?
Lets leave the position unfilled. RG fills both roles (not uncommon in Follett history) and have the 800k salary. Straight to the bottom line.
Purge more, too late, destroyed many good employees
Sadly too little too late
I think TC is happily retired. We should try to get some technical and course material talent back.
Can they bring back TC?
Daily Blue Light Special
A glimmer of hope has just entered my life! Thank you Follett for finally doing the right thing.
Just wondering...what make everyone think Don is/the issue!
THANK YOU JESUS!!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
