In a couple of interviews I was asked if it was true that most managers are big a**holes who can't work with people that challenge them.

When I interview they asked me how managed the Indians, Koreans and Chinese. I said with kimchi, curry, and fried rice as the carrot and a stick up their a$$ and it worked very well!
That happened to me, too. People ask all kinds of things based on their perception.
Yeah, @-1esz here. I didn't want to bash Bethany but it really is not a very nice area. (I'm sure Bethanyian's will disagree but to each their own). Those homes aren't built very well. Just not my thing.
Bethany is the worst with Hillyboro coming in second. Attend any academic club like Math, Science, or MUN or robotics and it is a very sorry enviroment, I'd never want my kids to grow up in that kind of atmosphere and the rat race for AP, scores and GPA, LOL
I purposely bought far away from Intel @-ivk. There was NO WAY I wanted to live in Hillsboro or in Bethany.
I am fortunate that though I work in Hillyboro but my children went to school districts with minimum intel folks, out of luck and design I avoided those districts. Was funny to see how different the atmosphere of the neighborhood, the schools, the classes, the clubs, the conversations at the back to school nights was / is when the majority aren't Intel, very refreshing, LOL
It is no wonder if you got the money and you are intel, you desperate to move to places without too many intel blokes, LOL
If this website has done nothing else, it's at least given me the impression that the Oregon Intel employees behave like a horde of conquering Romans, terrorizing the damp, leafy streets of Hillsboro in their perpetually-renewed luxury vehicles, on the way to their inflated-real-estate-value homes, where they treat their neighbors with an Intel Privilege contempt. Mocking the true locals with the sheer buying power of their annual bonuses. "Give us our tax breaks or we'll move this whole operation to Arizona so fast it'll make your co-op shopping heads spin!"
Oh, I believe the OP. I've had some odd conversations (that weren't started by me) with bankers, peple that work in grocery stores, restaurants, etc., once they find out I'm from Intel. Intel has a VERY BAD reputation for their employees being arrogant, pushy, rude, *ssholes with people they deal with. I could tell so many stories of things I've been told. It's mind boggling and a few people I know (via IB blog conversations) used to be proud to tell people they worked for Intel, but no longer do because they are instantly branded as being "one of those A-holes". it's a tad embarrassing. This is in the Hillsboro area probably due to such a large Intel population there.

Oh, and, decades ago (before I even worked there) I ran across some book that had (I think( the top 100 companies in it listing sort pros and cons, then a lengthier section about the companies. I'll never forget Intel's pros and cons.... Pros - They pay really well and have great benefits. Cons - They yell at each other a lot.
So yeah, I totally believe the OP. Been there, heard the same sort of thing from numerous sources a LOT.

To the OP it is never wise to talk poorly of your previously employer and you are a troll for sure as no professional interviewer would speak ill of previous employer simply not smart and especially with Intel. I can only predict if you answered you'll have no offer, or if you accept you are going to a more insecure and worse situation, LOL
