Typical layoff package?

Any guesses on what the Honeywell layoff package looks like?

Bull, I hired someone that was RIFed in January, HR also bridged their years of service and vacation. Good people get let go but also rehired because they will do good work and already trained to the Honeywell processes.

They will let you apply, and may even grant you an interview out of pity (or fear of lawsuits), but they will never hire you. If you were chosen, the hiring manager will secretly, and stupidly, believe it was for a good reason. Some have commented a manager slipped and said this flat out "why would I hire someone else's garbage?". In their eyes you are damaged goods and, for good reason, will hold resentment toward the company. For these reasons most managers will take the cowardly way out and send you the "more qualified candidates" email after an interview, as if a person walking off the street is more qualified than an employee who is already trained, and already well integrated into the company. Go ahead and apply, it may serve to boost your confidence that you are getting calls. However don't get your hopes up. No manager will be mature enough to see past the mistakes their peers may have made in determining you were a cost worthy of being cut. At least in the long run the interviews take time and money away from Honeywell. Resources they are in short supply of these days.

After an ex-employee's severance pay runs out, is it legal for HON to "enforce" the non-compete statement that ex-employees signed. Are there labor laws in this state that deny HON from doing that?

The intent is to not block ex-employees from the "right-to-work". And I am not hinting at anything to do with a labor union.

The Severance Pay Plan for Bands 1-4 provides:

One week of severance pay for each year of service (minimum of 4 weeks, maximum of 26 weeks). If you've been laid off previously and paid severance and rehired, no credit for that prior service. A separation agreement has to be signed which covers things such as non-disparagement, non-compete, etc. This is from a summary plan description I found on the company intranet.

In January I was given 1 minute to grab my personal items and escorted out of the building without saying goodbye to my coworkers and friends. I was treated like I had stolen something and was being led out with a box and an informal "good luck" from my manager. It was as if he had a chore to do and was pressed for time. With a year in, I was given 4 weeks of pay and benefits that continued through the end of the following month. Arizona unemployment made me fill out by hand and fax several documents so I could collect just enough money to keep my children fed, both preschool age. This was a full time job for a couple weeks. You wont see it coming, and no reason will be given why you were chosen. Don't trust good reviews, or a friendly banter with a manager to save you. The outsourced placement services don't serve any purpose other than to pull you in a meeting and tell you how to fill out a resume and apply to jobs online which hopefully everyone that was affected would have been doing up to that day anyway. You will blame yourself for being chosen, you will lay awake at night wondering if you had just done a little more to make them believe you were worth a damn. You will be ostracized by your former coworkers as they will not want your "bad luck" to rub off on them. That or they will feel guilty. Either way say goodbye to everyone there if you get the chance. Your manager will NOT give you any help in the way of recommendations and will say its policy. You will be required to notify all potential employers of your signature of the non compete agreement for a year. You will struggle with the question "what led you to leave your previous position?" and squirm in your seat when they act uncomfortable in discussing any further. You may get interviews again there, but they are more of a "sorry about that" gesture. No offers will come of them. In the end you will accept a sub optimal position to make ends meet. That's the package I got.

1 week of pay per year of service and you can't say anything bad about Honeywell or they will take it away.
