I remember watching his speech on Circuit and found it a bit simplistic.
@1hlv - Like much of Intel, Intel Labs has lost its way. Not sure if BK and MCM just don't have much faith in it being able to accomplish anything useful (because of lack of leadership and good people in the lab) or whether BK just doesn't understand how to use it as a strategic resource.
People in Intel Labs SHOULD be different than people on standard engineering teams. When they're not credible with folks in the rest of the company (for whatever reasons) then there's a problem.
Either way, I agree it's full of bozos and not the rock stars that it should have.
Wen's challenge to stop hiring bozos would make more sense if that was the main problem. The real issue is the bozos who were hired many moons ago and were placed (by other bozos) in positions of authority. They have created an environment where bozos thrive and everyone else suffers. Hiring smart people will only result in greater turnover, not the root cause.
From what I've seen ACT hasn't addressed bozos in any significant way.
