EOI Awkward Time Period?

So let's assume the rumors are true that Aug 5th will be the EOI submittal date and Sept 12 is the official layoff date. What happens during that 5-week period where your boss and boss' boss already know that you're gone, but you're supposed to continue working as if you give a f---?

Then other people start to find out that you volunteered. In meetings, people may start making awkward comments towards you. Others won't be able to rely on you for anything because you no longer care about your future within the company. I just imagine a very tough and awkward time period there.

Ok sorry, OPs comments are just naive. This is just a totally recycled version of last year. How is that you just can't imagine how to handle yourself? Here's what you should do. Go ahead and EOI right away, just as soon as possible. Then if for some reason you are not selected, you should resign immediately. If COP is going to survive, they need people who can think on their own. Seriously disappointing.

You act like this is your first rodeo. It was the same deal last year. Just go through the motions, who gives a hoot.

Assume that the Warn Notice comes Aug 5 - The beautiful 60 day notice thanks to congress

Now count out the days

Aug 5 - Email in 60 days we will fire people

Sept 12 - Notify Employees

Sept 13 - Oct 3 Is your 3 week minimum service severance

That covers the 60 day notice for the WARN act. I expect the severance to overlay the 60 day period this time. That is the way that most companies do it.

This is just speculation on how round 2 will go down.
