Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Here's Hoping

Hoping that the good people who have been already and who will be let go in this round will be able to successfully move forward to new opportunity, finding the work satisfaction they so richly deserve.

Hoping that this round will include significant changes at the top. It's well past time to stop shielding the incompetent management that have led us to these moments. The ELT has been mired in indecision and their inexplicable inaction has a price tag that can't be paid only by employees. Time to see their pay checks come to an abrupt end.

Hoping that everyone holds it together during this stressful time. Hang in there and take care of yourself.

Far too many layers in Houston. Need to flatten that structure this time around.

No leadership only inefficient management and lack of ethics stepping down on the ones that carry the whole company. People that gave their time and effort so others can get promoted. Also everyone wants to be your boss and have lack of knowledge about oilfield. They should start shopping heads from up above. They are hurting the company by cutting at the "feet" where thats what makes a company move forward.

There will be no change at the top. The individuals that were on the COST should be the first to be let go.

The defining characteristics of the worst oil bust in a generation (yes worse than the 80's):

  • the total lack of activity in the industry

  • the consequent absolute absence of consulting or hiring at all

  • the record bonuses being paid to those that are left
